Hi all, I've been lurking around this forum and I'm so pleased with all the available info! I'm a DIY person, and now my focus is on my skin. I dermaroll, I use tretinoin (0.025 for face and 0.1 for new stretchmarks) and I have had AMAZING results with both treatments in a very short time (I have a very responsive skin, always had), both in my face and in my post pregnancy stretch marks. I will make a post about that soon.
I have a small question, I was researching where to find l-ascorbic acid where I live so I could make my own vit c serum, when I found deep in my medicine cabinet a sealed small brown glass container with this ingredients: Every 100 ml: Vit A (palmitate) 833.300 u.i, Vit D (ergocalciferol) 166.600 u.i and Vit C (ascorbic acid) 8.333 grams.
It is supposed to be taken orally, but I was wondering if I could use this to make something for my face. I did some google search and came up empty, about combining those 3 vitamines, especially when I am already using tretinoin.
Do you have any ideas? Could I make a vit a, c, d serum for the face with this? It looks like it is some sort of concentrated formula, like I said, it comes in a very small brown glass bottle.
I hope someone could give me some advice!! Thanks in advance!! S. |

Hi,
Your already using Tretinoin, so no need for the vitamin A. Topical vitamin D needs more research to convince me its worth using. You also don't want to be using questionable ingredients in a serum such as ones that may be in that formula you mentioned. What I mean is other ingredients besides the A,D,C
I would just make a vitamin C serum. Many here buy from this site. http://www.lotioncrafter.com/ascorbic-acid-ultrafine.html
Or here http://www.makingcosmetics.com/Vitamin-C-L-ascorbic-acid_p_321.html
These are not ordinary vitamin C powders. They are ultrafine powder. Much easier to work with and give better results than the common vitamin C powder you will find in health food stores, etc.
I have used the 100% powder from the brand "NOW" in the past and it worked ok. |
