Is there anything I can do for wrinkles around the mouth. I really hate them. They aren't so severe yet at this point, but they show up in most pictures/video and are pretty unpleasant so far. I don't think I really have a nasolabial fold yet, but I just have visible deep wrinkles around my mouth. Has anyone had success getting rid of these? Do I need to be drastic for these to go away and go get filler from a dermatologist? What filler would be best? Hyaluronic acid filler? Am I too young to be getting filler (in late 20's)?
Thank for your help friends! |

you can get botox in three spots above your lip that will relax them. it will only last six weeks because the mouth moves so much.
you could do that..then start using topical serums and sunscreen to repair the damage. |

Do you smoke cigarettes? Have you thought about trying facial exercising? There are a lot of programs out there that can help get rid of wrinkles around the mouth and every where else. You just have to keep doing them a few times a week! |

I'm not going to do botox if it's that temporary, what's the point. I do not smoke, I barely even drink much. I just think I am genetically disposed to get them, I always noticed I had slight nasolabial folds/beginnings of very slight wrinkling around mouth since high school that were slowly becoming worse with age. I wear sunscreen and moisturized since high school. So, I don't know what the issue is, just seems genetic? I have not moisturized often the last year because I had skin problems so I couldn't too often, but I still kept up with the sunscreen moiturizer so I was still getting moisturizer somehow. I guess I have to go drastic with fillers? I don't know if I believe in facial excercises actually working. I feel like it could go the other way and screw up the face too. |

I am planning to have filler in my vermillion line. Less noticeable than in the whole lip area. I don't want to look like Daisy Duck. |

A small amount of filler will make things better instantly! Do not overdo it. 1 ml should be enough for both sides. You can add more later. |

Go with a great vitamin C serum. I like Vivier serums which are sold here but there are other excellent C products.
Vitamin C is not only an antioxidant, it's sun-protective and it also rebuilds collagen, especially if applied at night. It's one of the best actives. The key, of course, is to find one that suits one's skintype.
If you'd like a suggestion, Vivier's Serum 5 is a great entry-level C product. |

I am afraid eventually you need some filler to address it because we move our mouth so much. From my own experience, topic serums can hardly make it go away. As for what kind of filler, I think you might need to talk to dermatologist and see how he/she suggest you. I did the same. |

Where exactly are the wrinkles around your mouth? The sides down by the corners or vertical upper lip lines? |

I had them on the sides of the mouth and it made you look years older. I tried topical serums with massage without any improvement. Eventually, I went for fillers. |

I know what you mean, I have those too. I used to use fillers for them but I got over filled and they caused more wrinkles. I'm trying to do facial exercises to see if those help but I'm thinking I may try a gadget or something. I'm so tired of looking older than I am bc of these lines! |

Ollie, what kind of fillers did your dermatologist suggest you? Some of them could last longer such as fat thing, you know. |

Restylane was the one I used and it only lasted about 6 months. It gave me more wrinkles than I had before I started using it. Every time I went the Plastic Surgeon seemed to use more and more. Plus it got too expensive. Would rather try natural means to get rid of these things. What have you tried? |

The fat thing and I had it many many times that I could not remember. They would go away for lots of times and later, a little bit stayed and a little bit stayed. It's been over 10 years that I haven't done any. And there's still some effect there. Yes, I am so tired of repeating doing that, that's why I stayed away from that now. |

You may want to really investigate Botox, especially at your age. There are textural changes long term to the skin. Left you some product ingredient recommendations on your other post. Were you a smoker? If you still are, regardless of what products you start to use to help relax the lines, as the Botox alternatives, will do, here is an inexpensive good trick for you, if you are going out etc.. Are you familiar with lip plumper products? Guess what they do when you apply them on areas like this, they plump it up, and it has a filling in effect. |

Amy, thank you. No, I am not a smoker. I tried Botox in other area and according to my experience, it will last only 3-6 months. Moreover, my dermatologist considered I had the type of skin texture that will get sagging earlier. I noticed the wrinkles were caused not only mouth movements, but also the skin on the cheeks getting sagging. But, I was so surprised by your trick to use the lip plumper for temporary treatment. How interesting! I'll love to try that out. |

shame on that Dermatologist for speaking that over you! You are so young, sagging? There are some terrific little facial muscle exercises you can do, but at some point, it visits us all... Lots of little tricks and terrific ingredients that work wonders. Honestly, I am in my late 50's now and my skin looks better than when I was in my 30's. Who knows what will be possible when you are there! You are most welcome! |

Amy, what can be your secrets to keep you younger than in your 30's. Other than all the skincare endeavors, I guess probably you carry yourself properly mentally and physically. I do believe stresses can age us a lot from my own experiences. |

pleasure Judy, happy to share:-) wish the mentally and physically were as simple (am smiling right now...) my faith for certain, but for my skin, here's what happened to me. When I developed Epidermx II, I knew back then that this manual microdermabrasion cream was transforming my skin. At the time, I didn't understand why, I just knew what I was seeing. I never had nice skin. I had to work really hard, even in my 30's, and spent a lot of money. Now something I did for my family, was changing my life. 15 years later, I still use it every day. Many on this board go round and round about daily exfoliation, I disagree. What do you think drives the success of Clarisonic and now here we are again with a bunch of company's new hand held units... What do I do, just simply every night after I wash my face, I re-wash it with a bit of Epidermx II, between 10-30 seconds and rinse. A couple of times a week, I do 45-60 seconds and then really massage in NaturDerm Chrysalyx and my face stays nice and tight, feels really firm and lifted, especially my eyes. My daughter is a Meteorologist in Houston, she can't do with it as she is on air at 4 and 6 am and high def cameras don't lie. The TV anchors love this combo. When I stopped using products with silicones, that made the second big difference. Anyway, I knew back then the results, and now it's backed by 2 Dermatologists, Dr. Dralos and Dr. Pugliese, just re-did the website.
My skin-I have blackheads and lines, age spots, that are just gone. Being in Colorado, at higher altitude, I had a big problem with melasma and hypigmentation, now, it is rare. I read someone on the board say it was so rough & their skin did something, and I thought, ... wonder if competitor, guess they don't like to go to soft sugar sand beaches, because that is what Epidermx II feels like. My skin is firm, clear, people say all the time, you have beautiful skin, I still have to look around to see if they are talking about someone else, they say it is glowy, I say it looks really healthy and smooth, definitely massive changes in texture over 15 years. Neither my family, nor I can do without Epidermx II or NaturDerm products, we live in them, really, and that's my story! |

Judy, forgot to say (please excuse my aging mind slip:-) Dr. Dralos and Dr. Pugliese in an article on microdermabrasion, talk about how it can increase the ability of the skin to retain water, boost the results of products applied after, normalize cell turnover and smooth appearance of scars and stretch marks. Here is a link to more info in the article if you're interested in reading it: < mod snip >
thanks for sharing all you do here, all the best in life to you! |

Amy, thank you for sharing. Any products relating to microdermabrasion can back me off as my skin is pretty thin and the veins are pretty obvious to see. Thus, I can only go for some natural, yet gentle exfoliant even though microdermabrasion is the very effective way to get glowy skin and enhance the absorption of the skincare products you apply thereafter. |

:-)Judy,I was reading today in one of the Chem journals, several states have banned the synthetic microbeads, but suppliers are playing with some from natural sources. Have you ever made one yourself with pearl tapioca? You could try putting some in an aloe vera gel base, just a thought for you:-) |

Amy, are you a chemist? You seem to have lots of ideas and know what to do. For years, due to improper diets plus stresses, I find my skin sagging more than others at my age should look. I am still in a pretty stressful situation, but I am looking for any way that can make it up a little. We know eventually, the invasive way should be the only effective solution, but we do try not to go there because it's painful and very often the results actuallly do not seem natural. So, you are offering me useful information that I wish to know. Thank you. |
