I would like to use coconut oil for my rosecea. Do I need to use cosmetic grade oil or is food grade OK? |

Starspeed, most people use the food grade since its all natural for sure, but I guess cosmetic grade would be good too. |

I used coconut oil food grade version on face and do not recommend. I would try the cosmetic one it is formulated to be used on your skin. After going through a lot of natural products I have learned that natural is not usually best. Science has come a long way and formulations are important. Give the cosmetic a try and stay away from food grade because in my experience it caused bumps, clogged pores, etc. Not worth it at all! What cosmetic coconut oil are you looking at? |

What is the difference between "food grade" and "cosmetic grade", for coconut or other oils?
Is there any legal or technical definition for "food" and "cosmetic" grades? Or is it just a marketing term? I'm curious, as I sometimes see oils sold as "food grade" or "cosmetic grade", and am a long time user of coconut oil.
I realise labelling regulations may vary, depending on country, but seriously what's the difference? I would have hoped a product sold and labelled as coconut oil was in fact pure coconut oil .. although I'm aware there are different manufacturing processes. |

Actually I'm quite confused about which kind of coconut oil works best on skin. Types I found include Extra Virgin, Clod Pressed, CO2, etc.
Anyone has any ideas over them? Thanks |

I've been using the large size from Vitacost for years with no problems, apart from the occasionally bizarre "customer service" from Vitacost.
I use it for body, hair, sometimes face, and cooking. It's one of my fav oils for frying stuff. Some people don't like Vitacost products, but you can't really go wrong at this price - $21.99 for 54 fl oz of cold pressed, extra virgin.
