I have been ignoring my arms and legs and took a good look yesterday and was nothing short of horrified. They are crepey, loaded with sunspots, dry and flaky. I did a 40% lactic acid peel yesterday, but feel I could go stronger. Since summer is upon us and the sun is hard to avoid, I don't want to go with a deep peel. I need suggestions for a peel I can use now that would be effective yet safe to use (with sunscreen after the treatment, of course). My plan is to dry brush, peel, use an exfoliating product (like Glytone?) and use a moisturizer rich in anti-oxidants and a sunscreen. I have been looking at the CerVe and Oil of Olay body lotions and they seem to have some great ingredients. Does anyone believe it really makes sense to go with a more expensive moisturizer or are these good too. I am open to any suggestions at all - specific peels, exfoliants, moisturizers and anything else that could be effective. Thanks for any help. I need it. |

I have the same problem with crepey arms. I live in Texas and have to wear sleeveless tops because of the heat.
I like your idea of a peel and will try it soon. In the meantime, I apply a good self-tanner (I like L'Oreal self tanning products) and follow up with Gold Bond Ultimate for my arms and Gold Bond Restoring for my legs. I apply it daily and it helps with the baggy knees. I also like DermaSilk Skin Perfect for my arms.
Can't beat the GB price wise, either!$8.48 at the WalMart. |

Or you could use plain old olive oil at night on your skin. It has omega 3 and 6 in it and it is great for moisturizing and firming up the skin too and if you combine that with something like No Lipo Lipo you would change your arms in no time! |

Sunscreen everyday, or whenever you'll be out in the sun on those areas. You could try an inexpensive vit C serum on those areas underneath SS, and it will help fade the sunspots too. I like the CSI vit C serum fot Vitacost, it's only 2 ingredients and less than 20 dollars. I like Amlactin lotion which has AHA in it for exfoliation on my body. |

Sunscreen everyday. Also, apply coconut oil or a rich natural body butter to give it moisture. |

The sunspots can be darker or lighter than your normal skin tone and can occur in different shapes and colors. They usually occur on areas of the skin that get regularly exposed to sun, and particularly appear on your nose, cheeks, upper lip, ears, forehead, neck, arms, back of your hands. They might look like raised warts and cause slight itching. They may also look like scaly or rough skin lesion, and sometimes can be flat even.
Fifteen minutes before you head outside, apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 every day to ensure that your skin is guarded from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 when the sun rays are very harsh on your skin between 10 am and 4 pm, as at that time the sun is at its hottest. Invest in good quality sun blocks with enough SPF levels to protect your skin from further sun damage to skin. Do not solely depend on moisturizers, foundations and cosmetics that contain sunscreen. In spite of all these, you still need to use sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. |
