Hello,
Can anyone offer me any input or recommendations for lotions to use during red light therapy? I have signed up for services using the "Beauty Angel" and also Lumiere. Would I need lotion for prep, during treatment and also after? And / Or are they any shortcuts I can take or alternative products to use?
I don't want to be pushed into the salon products they offer, I would like to find the best products and best pricing.
Also, I do not plan on wearing makeup during the treatment but I wouldn't leave the house to drive there without some sunscreen. Would I still have to wash my face when I arrive at the salon before beginning the treatments.
Thanks in advance!! |

This is something that wherever you are having this done should be offering you before/after care advice so I'd telephone them and ask. I suspect that you would need a clean face makeup free and sunscreen free for the rays to penetrate the derma and do their thing but there are a range of different strength lights out there. |

What is red light therapy?
Also, if you aren't supposed to have anything on your face for it. If you aren't walking there, I wouldn't bother with putting sunscreen on it would just be another step to have to take off. |

Thanks for your reply! The problem is that the spa is super cheesy and all they do is push their branded products. I wanted to do some research on my own and check reviews It is primarily a tanning salon (I don't tan) but they offer red light. Good call on the sunscreen, I have been washing my face once I arrive. |

Well most places are like that - even derms offices nowadays but this is your face and you have to deal with the consequences and adverse effects if they happen so be more demanding and tell them you aren't interested in products but want to know the recommendations for before/after. Most places will appreciate the upfrontness.
Red light therapy is one of the many LED methods out there so its probably something you can read on the Lightstim and Prolight threads as to what others have found that can help too however I've not heard anything label just red light therapy.

Thank you , thank you! I am going to research those threads and read about Lightstim and Prolight . I don't mind places recommending products, it is just when they don't know what is in them or why they work I tend to worry -- and also worry about my investment. I really appreciate the tip. Thanks again!! |

If you are paying money to have these procedures done, then you should not be intimidated by them. They are there to help you and have a duty of care. If you ask and they are funny – then you simply need to go elsewhere. Most places have written guidelines about what to suggest/recommend and you are the customer and they should do right by you. The Prolight and Lightstim are LEDs – but whether or not they are the same as this Red light you are talking about is anyones guess. It may not be – again this is why you have to go back to the salon and get assertive. Otherwise you could be wasting your money unknowingly. That’s fine if you are okay with that – but I suspect like most people you won’t be. So step up and take some positive action here lady. Its your face and unless you are willing to waste money – take control of the place you are going to.

Thanks for your message. It is Lumiere therapy facial light. For $79 a month I get unlimited use of this machine also unlimited infrared therapy, which is an excellent deal. They have one lotion for $100 to use with the Lumiere and it is called transform and it is under their private label. I just wondered if anyone had any alternatives they were using for these kinds of therapies, as I like to research products and get the best bang for my buck. Without any serum or lotion, I am getting good results -- I just wondering about upping my results. The girls at the salon aren't knowledgeable and get paid on product sales -- none of which bothers me. This isn't a high-end Doctors office or high-end spa, it is what it is and I am happy with everything for what I am paying, I just was looking for some options before forking out $100. |

I have my own home panels i bought years ago It is pretty simple and lots of info on the internet.
Just google LED right light therapy. It is best you have a clean washed face. There was some research done a while back; and people were putting on green tea before the treatment and it was supposed to improve results. i.e.' spray or even water steeped in green tea before doing the treatment. |

I believe that you are only supposed to use the light with clean skin and a serum that absorbs really fast. Too thick products and the light won't penetrate as well. |
