OK, this is not exactly new, Dr Kevin Kavanagh, PhD, a biologist at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth in Kildare, Ireland released his findings back in 2012

https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/news/20120830/are-mites-causing-your-rosacea#1

That Demodix mites causes Rosacea. However, he didn't establish a treatment protocol.

Then another doctor named Mark Dunbarfound a link between demodex blepharitis and Roseacea. Curiously, apply the treatment to one disease miraculously cure the other.

Click on the link and find out what that simple treatment is.

Further to the above, essential oils of sage is as effective as tea tree, and pepermint is then mentioned as effective. But not so much seabuckthorn and aloe.

We are essentially looking for the terpene content in the essential oils.

Interesting article.
None of those oils actually worked for me as far as the rosacea and I used the Seabuckthorn oil as well.
I used Metrogel and it did not work at all.
I actually participated in a rosacea trial through a dermatologist and research group. We used a product not on the market yet, but contains many of the same ingredients as visine.
The dermatologists that I worked under are of the theory that it is vascular more than the mites. To that degree, retin-A can make the condition worsen. That is why the triggers such as wine, alcohol and spicy foods also come into play. More internal than external.
I take a product called Code Red, which helps the alcohol flush part of it, if I am going to wineries and doing more wine drinking than normal.
We also tried a shampoo/cleanser and topical to target mites, which had no effect whatsoever.
It is frustrating to say the least.

My current prescription is Soolantra. It works well if you have the accompanying bumps, which I really don't have.
Proheal is also a good serum for my type of skin.
An IPl is a good yearly procedure with very little downtime which helps keep it calm.
The EXCEL Laser is best but it is extremely painful and takes a week to recover from due to swelling and extreme bruising.

Thanks, Annie. I hope the trial will prove to be successful.

Did you use Finacea 15%?

Yes, I have. That didn't work either. The only thing that truly works for me is an IPL. But still you have to have them yearly due to the vascular part and the capillaries do regrow.

Thanks! Good luck. Thank goodness the price for IPL treatments have come down dramatically. I was one of the aethesticians using Palomar Starlux on clients and I still think it's one of the best for IPL.

Have not had that one I don't think.
I have had 10 or so at least of the Photofacial IPLs, 5 of the Cool Touch, a fraxel (which left scarring), one of the CO2 laser and the EXCEL. The Excel was the worst for recovery time and bruising. Done by the same lady who did the horrible fraxel so that was scary.
I don't even feel the IPLs anymore and very rarely bruise.
