Hi!
This is maybe a weird/gross question but all of you seem to be such skin experts, this is the first place I thought of to get advice...
I have a bump on the back of my calf that resembles a pimple. It is basically a red bump the size of a pea.
Does anyone know what this could be and how to get rid of it? It has been there for over a month....it's kind of irritating because I don't know how to get rid of it. It will soon be warm enough to wear skirts and shorts, and I don't want it showing! |

I think you should see a doctor about it, especially if it is painful, but also just because it is bothering you and any advice given here may be incorrect (not least because we can't see you or your leg bump).
My sister had a scar come up like that on her leg, or if you have been injured there it may be an abcess type thingy, or a mosquito bite? I really have no idea. Hopefully doctor could tell you
Take care. Hope you can disappear it ok.

I would also strongly recommend you see a doctor. NEVER self medicate "bumps"!!! |

This suggestion does not replace an actual physician’s advice, but...could it be an ingrown hair (aka “shaving bump”)? Does it behave like a zit (i.e.: does it have a “head” on it)? If it is, you might try TendSkin...I once posted the recipe for homemade TendSkin on this site...to a search using “Homemade Tendskin” and “CareKate” as the key words. I used to get shaving bumps on my legs all the time until I started exfoliating before shaving. To fade the red marks left by shave bumps after they heal, try apple cider vinegar toner and/or a Vit-C serum. |

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice.
I went to the doctor and it may or may not be skin cancer. Not melanoma, but the less serious kind.
I wanted to post an update to encourage anyone else with anything like this to go see their doctor! |

Thanks for updating us almagarret! I really appreciate that you shared this with us - it's important, sobering information...makes one really appreciate how careful you have to be and how important it is to regular check the skin for irregularities
take good care!
