Hello!

I have noticed that when I wear eye make-up my eyes get irritated( I start blinking a lot) and red inside.

Could I be doing soemthing wrong when I am apllying it?
Is it some kind of allergy to the make-up?

Has anyone ever had a problem like that?
I like wearing eye shadows and mascara and I would not want to give those up!
PLEASE HELP!

Hi Aga,

I have this problem with eye shadow. I can only wear non-frosted/no shimmer, hypo-allergenic kind like Marcelle. Even Almay which claims to be hypo-allergenic will cause my eyes to tear, become red and sensitive to the sun. If it gets really bad, I have to put prescription drops in. Apparently the ones that are frosted are the worst.

I don't have any problems with mascara though, just eye shadow. So maybe try some of the hypo-allergenic ones and see if it helps.

I had this problem when I tried powder liners...turns out I was getting it on my eyeball and that was the irritation.

Hi! Quick tip.. when you buy make up check on the label what goes into it.. you'd be surprised! a lot of make up contains lanolin which comes from sheeps wool.. so you know when you get a new sweater and find it's a bit itchy it's the lanolin in the wool. The same thing causes allergic reactions with make up. It might be that or some other artificial ingredient. Is it just eyeshadow and mascara you have a problem with? Maybe you could try sweeping foundation over the area before applying it so it acts as a barrier. Dermalogica do a small range of foundation which contain only natural ingredients and are lanolin free.

hEllo there!

I tried to find the list of ingredients but with no luck, its gotta be the Revlon Mascara or the Physicians Formula eyeshadow ( but its supposed to be hypoallergenic? )

What brands are there that are 100% hypoallergenic?

Thanks!

I have this problem too, and especially with sparkly shadows. Almost every mascara I've tried irritates my eyes. I use Clinique eyeshadow (I know they have a bad reputation but I think that's mainly because their skincare is sooo crappy). Clinique eyeshadows doing irritate my eyes at all. I have a creaming chubby pencil thing with quite a bit of sparkle and I use it to line my top lashes. It's colour name is 'Cola', I'm too lazy right now to go up and check the full product name but will get it later when the little man is awake. Anyway, it's very gentle. Clinique mascara burns my eyes though, right now I use Blinc's Kiss Me or Endless Performance from Mary Kay, neither one irritates. Even the other Mary Kay mascaras cause me trouble. My sister also uses the MK Endless and can't use many others.
