Hi!
As I said above this is probably a silly question but.....
I recently ordered some hair care products from healthyhairplus.com (which are proving great by the way), I received with it a sample of 'face serum' but no explanation of what was in it. I checked on the sites link to their skincare and the only serum they do is an Emu oil one. (They also do Emu oil hair stuff for you fans of the oil:O). Anyway this is fine and I know there have been some rave reviews on Emu oil so I was tempted to try it, but as I'm a "veggie" I just wanted to check before I used it as to how it was obtained.
I know it's a by product of the Emu farming industry, but is it like Lanolin (ie - sheep doesn't die in process!) or is it what I suspect... (in which case I would no more use it than smear lard or chicken fat on my skin!!! - even if it was great skin care!
Grateful if someone could let me know for sure.
Thanks !
Lucia

I've seen other veggies objecting to emu oil and I'm pretty sure you won't want to use it.
As far as I remember the emus are reared for eating and the little fat pad on the back of their necks is used as emu oil. I don't think there's any way of getting the fat off them without slaughtering them. |

Molly is right. They are farmed for their meat and then they use the fat to produce the oil. So, it would be like smearing chicken fat on your skin. Lovely. |
