Hi im new here, just asking for some help.

Well basically im 15 and i have alot of spots. It used to be worse but im using a product called "Oxypeel" Its an exfoliating milk. I also use something called "Zap it" to target my spots.

I do scratch and pick my spots often, the thing im worried about is that where previous spots once where im getting scar like marks after them. I was wondering if they will go away?

They do not look too good.

Thanks for the help people.

Hiya! I'm new too, usually I just lurk!

I also suffer with spots and I have found that the best way to avoid the scarring that you are talking about is not to pick and squeeze spots.
Obviously there are some that I cant resist! But overall they clear quicker and leave less scars if you avoid them.
If you are really suffering I would recommend going to the doctors to see if they can help.
Hope that helps

Hi Noni,

Definitely do not be picking, because you will get scarring and you will have more troubles dealing with that when you are older. I agree, going to a derm, if you can, is a good idea.

I am assuming that your parents buy products for you? How much money are your parents willing to spend on new cleanser etc...Let us more about your skin too, and hopefully we can help you out Very Happy

I am sure there are some products specifically made for teenage skin...Anyone with a teenager at home???? Wink

Another thing - picking spreads bacteria and you'll get more spots.

Hi

i just thought i would mention that when i was 15 ish that i suffered from spots mostly on my forehead and they were quite large, as did my little brother at this age. I went to my doc and he was very helpful and prescribed erythromyacin (spelling?) it is an antibiotic for spots and my skin cleared in about 3 months - it works on preventing new spots appearing but not the current ones. My friend who is now 26, was suffering from mild acne - she doenst know how it started but i told her about these tabs also as she was getting really depressed about it and her doc give her them and within 3 months also her skin cleared up. As my doc said - in this day and age no-one should have to live with acne, even mild forms of it. Hope this helps and i would also follow the skin care advice that the guys at this forum are very knowlegeable on.

nic

I have never had this problem, but from others on this forum and my friends with acne I think a tea tree soap might be a good idea. If you don't like that idea, you could go with the MD Formulations cleanser with AHA. Or even Anti-Bac Skin Wash from Dermologica. Both lines also offer purifying/correcting lotions to follow with if you feel that you need it. Lastly, I think that you need some sort of oil free SPF product, because you can never be too young to start protecting your skin Wink . Epidermx may also be a good weekly treatment for you. It will help to deep clean your skin, and get rid of the scarring that you mentioned.

On another note, you may want to do as others have suggested and get an antibiotic to help.
Vitamin A and Zinc supplements are also known to help clear skin.

Lastly, when you do start using your new products, don't over do it. Over cleansing is going to dry out your skin and you will produce more oil to compensate.

Maybe others who have experienced this before have some other ideas??? Confused

Noni - do you know the active ingredients in those two products you are using? I would suggest you use something with Salicylic Acid (BHA) in it. The Dermalogical Medicated Clearing Gel is good as is the Microfoliant for exfoliation (also has some BHA in it).

Hi Noni, I was in exactly the same position as you when I was in my teens.
I will probably sound like a broken record now on the suject of clearing acne Rolling Eyes
I would advise:
*Vitamin A - The 8000iu, take about 4 a day
*Strong B Complex - (the B 100 complex, on offer at the moment at H&B)
*Zinc 25mg
All of these you can buy from Holland & Barrett, as you are in your teens, your body will need supplementing all the more - what with all those hormones all over the place Smile . 96% of people with acne normally test positive for Vitamin A deficiency. B Complex is great for stabalising the hormones, all women need it and as for Zinc, this fights bacteria and again regulates the sex hormones. All work in tandom.

It was not until I was in my twenties that I took these supplements and they cleared my skin in a couple of months, now I don't really suffer much from acne. Nckyl's doc is right no-one should have to suffer from acne, I suffered from the age of 13 up until 20 and really messed my system up with all that I was given at the doctors, I only wish I had had some vitamins earlier on.
As for skincare, keep it simple Wink
