Anyone know of a good brand? I think Bumble and Bumble makes one, but don't think I can get it in Canada
Have been using baby powder, but would prefer something with a more grown-up scent
How often does everyone wash their hair
I know you aren't supposed to wash everyday but what about the greasy roots Either you have dry hair from washing everyday or oil slick on the top of your head |

I have this same problem!
Oily oily hair that I have to wash every day. Unfortunately it gets dried out. I have tried washing every other day (I've been told that your scalp "normalizes" and adjusts to less frequent washing) Unfortunately I simply can't stand the feeling of having a greasy mop on my head.
So I wash every day and condition my ends well. I haven't come across any dry shampoos before, but I will share a secret with you
On those days when my alarm doesn't go off and I'm in an absolute panic to get to work, I dry shampoo with the following:
I have a big container of a product called Honey Dust by a company called Kama Sutra. Basically its just solidified honey that's been ground to a fine dust. Supposedly there are no other fillers in this product, so its actually edible. It's wonderful sprinkled all over the body and is a nice natural deodorant.
Anyway it smells really really lovely, and I sometimes brush this through my hair to decrease the greasies. The colour is not as noticeable as baby powder, and you'll smell honey-soft and sweet instead of talcumy.
You can often find Kama Sutra products in lingerie stores. I think Urban Decay also makes some similar products. |

• Psssssst® Instant Spray Shampoo (available at: Albertson's, CVS, Discount Drug Mart, Eckerd, Harmon, Hy Vee, Ingles, Osco, Rite Aid, Sav-on, Shop Rite, Ulta, Walgreen's) - this is the original dry shampoo!! I remember my mom used to use this stuff back when I was a wee lass....
• Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo
• Sugar Glider Dry Shampoo
And here’s a recipe if you want to tackle making your own:
D-I-Y DRY SHAMPOO RECIPE #1:
• 1 cup of ground oatmeal
• 1 cup of baking soda
Combine ingredients and then transfer into a clean jar.
How to use:
Massage a little into the oiliest parts of your hair and allow the mixture to absorb the oil.. To remove, brush and then shake the hair.
D-I-Y DRY SHAMPOO RECIPE #2:
• 2 tablespoons cornmeal
• 1 tablespoon ground almonds
• 1 tablespoon orris root
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. Massage 1 teaspoon of the dry shampoo mixture into the scalp and then brush it out thoroughly. If your hair still feels greasy, repeat the procedure at least once.
D-I-Y DRY SHAMPOO RECIPE #3:
• ½ cup cornmeal or other flour
• ½ cup almond meal or other nut meal (nuts ground in a blender will do)
Combine the ingredients in a glass jar. Shake to blend. Dust the hair with the shampoo, massage it gently and lightly into the scalp, then brush out. |

Thanks guys....I will probably have to try to make one of the recipes as I live in Canada and I don't think I can get the products mentioned unless I order online. |
