About the product:
This is a bright blue-green clay-type mask with pineapple enzymes, kojic acid, and scrubbing grains. It claims to have all sorts of wonderful lightening and brightening effects. Ingredients (from SkinStore.com): AQUA (PURIFIED WATER), PINEAPPLE ENZYMES, GLYCERIN, CAPRILIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDES, DIATOMACEOUS EARTH, CETYL OCTANOATE, KAOLIN, KOJIC ACID DIPALMITATE GALLIC ACID, SQUALANE, ALBUMIN, SILICONE DIOXIDE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, SALICYLIC ACID, MALIC ACID HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) EXTRACT, GAMMA AMINOBUTYRIC ACID (GABA), MENTHOL LACTIC ACID. D-ALPHA TOCOPHEROL (VITAMIN E), JASMINE EXTRACT, XANTHAM GUM, MEXICAN TEA EXTRACT, ALGAE EXTRACT, AZULENE, VITAMIN C ESTER, AMLA EXTRACT, BLEND OF NATURAL ESSENTIAL OILS
About me:
I'm 33 with sun damage and large pores. My skin is sensitive due to past Obagi mishaps. I cannot tolerate acids or peels in general, my skin will react with big red painful patches. AHAs, exfol serum, pumpkin peel, and mandelic acid are too strong for me. I am also sensitive to Vitamin C serums... and for some reason the Decleor ylang ylang oil caused me to react.
Packaging:
This is packaged in a rather small (for the price) frosted plastic jar with a gold screw top.
Application Method:
I applied this following the directions - use only a teaspoon of mask to cover face and neck. This makes a very thin application. I applied in a circular motion, this lightly scrubbed my face with the grains. I left it on for 15 minutes and rinsed with warm water and a facecloth. I have used it in this manner about 4 or 5 times.
Pros:
I have to admit that my skin looks markedly better after using this mask. There is a definite 'brightening' and smoothing effect.
It also has a calming effect on spots that are healing. I noticed that a spot that I had picked seemed to heal a lot more quickly than usual after I used this mask for the first time. I did not believe that it was due to the mask but I tried it again when I had another spot and the same thing happened, very fast healing.
It did not irritate my skin in the slightest. On the contrary it calms it down.
It smells yummy.
Cons:
The PRICE, US$90 for a mask! I got it when SkinStore.com was doing a 20% off special but still! 90 bucks! sheesh!
Bright blue-green color, you look very silly with it on. If you are messy and/or have white towels, beware. It does wash out of white towels and facecloths without staining though.
Results:
I really do like this mask a lot. Not too many masks produce visible results with no irritation like this one does. If it were US$50 it would be a definite, definite repurchase. Since it is US$90 it is a maybe repurchase... I will be scouting around for something a little less expensive. If SkinStore.com runs another 20% off coupon I will definitely repurchase. |

| Great review stellamaris. I agree with everything you said. I have small broken caps also, and this product definitely makes them look like they have gone away, though that result is temporary for me. I have used this the entire month of January now, about 3 times a week. I do think it is a great product, and I still have between 1/4-1/2 jar left. The price is the killer for me and I am on the lookout for a very similar product, just at less cost. I would repurchase if it was on sale only. |

| stellamaris- How does you skin normally react to products that contain salicylic acid? Our list of "no" ingredients seem very similar but I also have problems with BHA and I noticed that the Enzynme Exfoliant contains this. |

| Hi Theresa, I always pay attention to your posts as I think we have similar sensitivities as well. As far as salicylic acid goes I reacted horribly with Exfol serum (2% salicylic). I have not used any masks that contain salicylic other than the Tracie Martyn though. |
