I had a pair of Tweezersmans many years ago, but I stopped using them because half the time they would cut off the little brow hairs at the base before I got a chance to pluck them and it drove me fug buck. Fast forward ten years, and I’m looking for a new pair of tweezers to replace my drugstore brand so I went looking at MUA to see what was what.

Based on all of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I immediately went out that afternoon and bought a pair of pink (breast cancer awareness) Tweezermans at my local Sallys Beauty. I swear, I must’ve been suffering from selective amnesia, because I had totally forgotten my previous experience with this brand!

Sure enough, when I got home and started attacking my seriously overgrown eyebrows, not to mention the five evil little black chin hairs (ladies, if you don’t have them yet, don’t be too smug because I guarantee one morning you’ll wake up and find that they’ve sprouted from your chin virtually overnight!!) with my new prized purchase, on just about every other grasp, the damn things immediately began severing the hair off at the skin when I went to grab it, and I remembered why I stopped using my old Tweezermans in the first place.

The thing is, the Tweezermans are rather like me: when they’re good, they’re very, very good, but when they’re bad.... I dunno, maybe it’s just my hair-pulling technique. Does anyone else have this problem? I’ll keep using my Tweezermans until they wear out, or until I drop them and the tension gets sprung, but I don’t know if I’d be willing to replace them.

Maybe next time I’ll try a pair of tweezers by Anastasia, the Beverly Hills eyebrow-shaping guru to the stars...? And, hey, another “prestige" brand of tweezers that I've seen at my local Sallys is Mehaz Rubis Slanted Tweezer, which I think sell for around $32USD (as opposed to $18USD for most Tweezermans), but I haven't heard anything about them so I don't know if -- in this case -- more expensive necessarily means better....Maybe I’m just being to damn particular, but really – is it too much to ask that a pair of tweezers not slice the hair off at the base before I can pluck it out????

I've been through more pairs of Tweezermans than I care to think about. I've been through virtually every style, I find as with all tweezers that they're great to start with but with a few uses they aren't as effective. May be to do with how I hold them.
In general though compared to other brands tried I do like their tweezers and they do re sharpen them for you when blunt. I'm just always too lazy to send them off!

theres no question that the best tweezers in the world are Shavata's Tweezers. Theyre ridiculously priced at over £20 but just amazing.

Shes a celebrity eyebrow groomer here in the UK and those are what she uses.

Try and see if you can get your hands on some.

I tried the Shavata ones and they can remove the finest of hairs. They are deadly sharp, but do a great job.

I bought mine from QVC.

Carekate,

I haven't had that problem with them, so I don't really know what to tell you. If it is only doing it 50% of the time, what is different that 50% of the time? Maybe it is the angle, but I really don't know. Sorry they aren't working out for you!!

I must be one of the lucky ones then - I love my Tweezermans! I have heard about Rubis being great but I have not tried.

I have exactly the same problem, carekate. I have 2 pair of slanted tweezerman with different grips, they are a bit dull now, need to send them off to be sharpened. Even they cut the brows instead of tweezing SOMETIMES, they are still the best I have had...tempted to try the Shavata but doesn't make sense to have 4 pairs of tweezer at home!

I love my slanted tweezerman tweezers! I also love this cheap drugstore brand -- I think it's called LaCross. Both work very well, both are slanted.
