I had mentioned several times earlier that I had purchased the IS Clinical Eye Complex. I wasn't really prepared to do a review on it until I had used it for awhile. Well...here we go!!

First off, I should say that, like many of us, I've been on an almost contant quest for the perfect eye product. It isn't even that my eyes are all that big a problem... I do have a tendency to form dark circles under my eyes, which is exacerbated by a combination of lack of sleep and terrible allergies. I don't have an abundance of fine lines, but I do have some - not enough to concern me really, but those also are way more noticeable when I lack sufficient sleep. Finally, I wanted firming under my brow to the lid.

I've gotten impressive results in reducing the dark circles using Teamine Complex and I still maintain that Decleor Hydratenseur Serum is the best firming product out there. After reading all the raves here about Cellcosmet, I tried both the Eye Contour Creme and the Ultra Eye Complex gel. The Eye Contour Creme has a luxurious feel and consistency to it, but overall, it has left me very unimpressed, especially when one considers the price. I'm more impressed with the Ultra Eye Complex gel - it most definitely helped to smooth, firm, and plump the undereye area.

Ooops - I also forgot to mention that another concern was that an inherited tendency for undereye milia was starting to crop up...(just one, really, but I could see where I was headed....)

Okay, now to get to the point.... At the recommendation of my dermatologist, I started a new eyecare regimen a few months ago that included Skinceuticals Retinol 1% (VERY strong stuff!!!) - which at first I could only tolerate every third night - followed by IS Clinical Eye Complex. I continue to use the Decleor Hydratenseur Eye Serum on and off (their instructions recommend it as treatment for 21 days at a time several times per year, and I've followed that basic prescription).

At first, I can say I was terribly impressed with the IS Clinical Eye Complex. I didn't have any complaints about it. It has a nice consistency, is easily absorbed, etc. But, it wasn't the kind of product that gave the DRAMATIC results I got with the use of the Active Serum, Super Serum, and HydraCool. But, I also know that not every product gives overnight results, so I decided to give it some time.

Here I am a little less than 3 months later and I have to say I'm very, very impressed! Not only are my undereye circles GONE (and please keep in mind that is the height of misery time for allergy sufferers in the D.C. area), the skin under my eyes is completely smooth and taut. The smoothness - and we are talking TOTAL milia eradication - may be largely due to the Skinceuticals Retinol 1%, which I am now using every night, but I could never use the product without following it with the Eye Complex; on its own it is just too irritating.

The fact is, I have gotten results with other eye products as I mentioned. In fact, I've often recommended Teamine Complex and I definitely favor it over the Peter Thomas Roth product that addresses the same issue. But, although I am still fond of Teamine, and think it is one of the most reasonably priced eye products out there for the results it gives, it doesn't hold a candle to the results I am seeing with my new regimen.

Sooooooo.... I know this is gonna just SHOCK you (really laughing), but I'm calling this a RAVE!!! Again - I don't think these dramatic results are attributable to the Eye Complex alone. I think the combination of it with the Skinceuticals Retinol 1% is what really did the trick. But, the combination of the two has given me the kind of results that I honestly thought could only be achieved with surgery.....

Wandering off to light another candle at my IS Clinical shrine.......

Oooops... I've done enough posting to know that I should list the ingredients, since you gals always ask Laughing

KEY INGREDIENTS: Aloe Vera Gel, Gingko Biloba, Salicin Glydoside, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Kojic Acid, Green Tea Extract, Natural Hydroxy Acids Extracts, Grape Seed Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin.

So katee, are you saying you started using the retinol and ISC Eye Complex at the same time? Do you apply the retinol all around your eyes or avoid any areas? Did the ISC prevent redness/scaling etc. from the retinol since it's supposed to be anti-inflamatory?

ISC Pro Heal Serum has 1% retinol in it (plus Vit.C) -- have you considered using it around your eyes?

BTW, I'm still loving the Firming Complex! The jury's still out on Super Serum -- I've used it about 6 wks. or more and haven't noticed any freckle reduction, but I realize this takes time -- maybe even a year.

Hi, My super serum after only about 3 weeks has turned a deep yellow almost orangy. Do you IS Clinical users think this is ok. I'm just not sure about it being orangy and still doing good things for the skin. thanks for any input.

Mine deepened a bit, but not to orange. I'm not sure...

My SS is pale yellow after about 6 weeks. Did you keep it in a cool, dark place?

First, just to quickly answer Shirl... I've been assured that the change in color in the Super Serum, although it does indicate a certain oxidation, really isn't a problem. In the future, you should make sure you keep the bottle securely covered when not in use. My understanding is that not tightly closing it has an even greater impact that keeping it in the light, as the light is diffused by the amber bottle. Obviously, if they would just package it in a pump bottle, the way they do the HydraCool and now the Active Serum, it would help. Grrrrr....

As for the other questions - yes, I did start using the retinol and the Eye Complex at the same time. I didn't experience any peeling or scaliness from the retinol, but at first, although it wasn't visible to the eye, the area FELT a little inflamed 24 hours after I applied the retinol. Now, I have no problem and have been using it nightly. I only apply it under my eye, since that is the only place I need it. I do apply the Eye Complex around my entire eye area though. The sequence I use at night is 1. Active Serum or Firming Complex 2. Skinceuticals Retinol 1% where needed 3. Eye Complex 4. Hydra Cool.

Although the Pro Heal contains 1% retinol, that concentrated retinol is then heavily diluted in the serum. The Skinceuticals product is pure undiluted 1% retinol. It is VERY strong stuff, but if you can tolerate it, and it took me a few weeks even though my skin is quite resilient and tolerant, it is quite effective.

I had asked my dermatologist if she thought the results I've achieved were attributable to one product or the other. She said that I undoubtedly would have seen some results using either product, or either in combination with something else. But, she said that she's test many combinations and that there really isn't anything that has given the kind of results that this combination seems to. I have to say that, at least in my own case, I couldn't agree more.

Katee,
What about the firming under your brow to the lid-did it help here at all-this is the major issue for me-even tried to trick my opthamologist into giving me a Field Of Vision test to see if I qualify for an insurance covered bleph-no luck!
So how is that area for you?
Thanks,
Maria

To answer Maria regarding the area from my brow to eyelid: I don't have a whole lot of sagginess there although I did definitely want to firm the area up a bit. As I mentioned in my original post, I only used the Skinceuticals Retinol 1% + IS Clinical Eye Complex combo under my eyes. From lid to brow I use just the Eye Complex and periodically apply Decleor Hydratenseur Serum, which I absolutely LOVE....

I've definitely succeeded in firming that area up, and I'm pretty happy about that, but the smoothing and tightening of the area under and around my eyes has been far more dramatic.

Hope that helps answer your question.

Has anyone tried any of their other eye products? Actually I think there is only one other - the C gel. It looks to me to be rather unremarkable, but I'd be interested to hear about it if anyone has any experience with it.

I got a sample of it, and tried it. Just regular C serum, 7.5%. I use my regular C serum around my eyes anyway, so definitely not a purchase for me. As well, the botlle is 1 oz, I think, so I am sure it would go off before you could use even 1/4 of it. The sample lasted a month...
