Are there any Origins products worth trying at all, whether for face or body?

A few weeks ago I crashed at my boyfriend's place for the weekend and forgot to bring face cleanser with me. We were at a mall so I figured I'd try something I wouldn't have otherwise. At a salesperson's suggestion I picked up a tube of Checks and Balances, which I was told was great for dehydrated oily skin.

I would like to add at this point that this is the only product in my life that I have immediately returned to the store the next day after having only used it twice. At first I thought it would be fine since a little bit foamed an insane amount and it had a pearlescent creamy minty texture that was initially not unpleasant. This crap stripped my skin like nothing else, though! Origins may like to describe it as "sqeaky clean" but I could put my finger on my forehead and wouldn't be able to drag it across without a lot of resistance. Not a smooth clean at all. My skin, which is pretty resiliant, ended up getting red bumps in a couple of places and burned. I had tried it again the next morning, and it still burned and had an, I guess "tacky" feel to it? (On a side note, Queen Helene Mint Julep mask doesn't phase me, so it can't be the minty part!)

Fortunately, Origins was very nice about it, apologized, and refunded me. I had been given a few samples but I'm more willing to experiment with cleansers and masks than I am moisturizers and the like.

I love the smell of the Drink Up mask sample I have, which is a very peachy/apricot smell, but I can't tell if it does anything yet. I'll try it again tonight probably, since I had forgotten about it.

Is there any Origins product, bath or otherwise that's really worth trying out? I thought about picking up the Ginger Cooling Balm (I think it's called?) since it smells really nice. I'm a well-versed consumer of L'Occitane and The Body Shop, but Origins is entirely new to me and I have a few friends that adore their products.

Hi, I am an Origins freak. The first thing I would suggest trying is their charcoal face mask. Can't remember the exact name but once you see it you'll know it. It's dark grey/black in a tube. It is the absolute best mask ever, it completely cleans out your pores and I use it 1-2 times a week.

I don't particularly care for their ginger-scented stuff, just don't like the smell.
