Im declaring a battle against dull sallow skin!! Any recommendations wat i can add/change in my skincare routine to achieve brighter, more radiant skin? I'm already using Vivier 10% Vit C n Dermologica Daily Micro Exfoliant...but i havent noticed any marked improvement. I have combo skin, dehydrated surface but oily glands. Any advice for me??

I think maybe, externally, it might just take some time. Make sure you are drinking at least 2L of water per day and taking at the very least, a good multivitamin. The inside routine is just as important as the outside one. Very Happy

I think you should stick with the C serum and the Microfoliant for a while. I definitely DID see results with this combination. Also, the suggestion to drink plenty of water is spot on IMO!

You could up the vit C concentration over time. It really did good things for my skin but took time. Also a mild glycolic acid product instead to dermabrasion might work. I only do very light dermabrasion because it can cause or aggrevate broken capillairies

At the moment, I am taking Purity's Perfect Multi Super Greens. I only take 2 a day, but also take 1 or 2 C,E, calcium, HA, fish oil, and evening primrose. I do look a pill popper, Laughing BUT, I feel great taking them, and my skin is clear good too! Also, 2-4L of water per day.
The AHA suggestion may be worth looking into too. Maybe try the aspirin mask made with yogurt. PSF Pumpkin peel also is amazing for brightening!

I thought of getting MDF cleanser with glycolic acid but ive just placed my order ....without it. Ive got very sun sensitive skin and found out from a different thread that glycolic acid actually thins the skin...i wear SPF all the time but i cant afford another freckle/pigmentation on my face Razz i guess exfoliation will help brighten the skin? Is using Daily Micro Exfoliant gd enough for exfoliation? Im also not sure if i can use it everyday cos my facilist told me cos of my active sebum glands, too much "abrasion" or rubbing of my skin activates the glands n causes me to breakout....i seem to hv noticed that myself too. Def a skincare routine dilemma here Sad

Glycolic does NOT thin skin unless abused. There are several good long term studies out there (up to several months)where either skin biopsies or spectrascopic techniques were used to measure skin depth and skin growth markers. in the 4-10% range at 3.5pH the skin thickness increased proportional to the concentration. If you do low pH peels at a frequency of greater than 2 weeks you can thin your skin. Glycolic acid creams do increase photosensitivity but we all should be using vit C serums and sunscreens.

People should get their info from MEDLINE (or other search engines of peer reviewed medical journals). The WEB has good info but I'd estimate that 80% is inaccurate in some way and over half is pure crap!!! Two examples: 1) for a while the #2 used lawyer on lawyers.com was a teen who got his "training" watching TV shows and 2)the "physicians committee for responsible medicine" is actually a front for a radical vegetarian group.
There are probably many more that sound reputable as well as unreputable info on generally reputable sites but in general I use the WEB to find new things but never rely on it for the final info. Look up the real articles cited on the WEB and make your own mind up (on any issue).

I use the Age-Limit serum that's 10% lactic/glycolic acid about twice each week and it is soooo wonderful at brightening and smoothing. I sort of "forgot" to use it for about a week now. (You know how so many products are in the cabinet and if one gets pushed to the back...out of sight, out of mind. Smile Anyhow, saw it hiding in the back last night and pulled it out, applied, slept and voila - I love what my skin looks like today. I think when I use it on a alternate night basis I don't notice results so much. Since I let a week go by, I think the dead skin must have built up a bit so the result seemed more extreme.

Thank heavens for vitamin C serum, retin-A, AHA's and sunscreen!
