I'm allergic or sensitive to bar soap, especially things that contain deodorant. Lets just say it throws my whole Ph balance off in a very sensitive place. I finally realized my allergy to bar soap about 5-6 years ago but, it was a new thing. I can use dove and caress bars but for the most part I'm on a strict bath gel diet. Has anybody heard of this and what do you know about it. I've search everywhere to figure what ingredient is setting my body off ???????? Anybody???? |

Soaps in general are drying and irritating for us sensitive people. I know it might sound disgusting, and ive actually read this and have followed it for many years...but i only use soap on areas where it is necessity ( arms..personal areas...feet...). Why? Soap strips natural oils from the body, and many of the ingredients in them like tallowate are main ingredients which are very evil....Also, anything with a fragrance is no good to sensitive skins...breaks me out in rashes and bumps. My suggestion is to stick with the gels you know, and toss the bar of soap in the trash |

I can't use bars either.
I use aveeno, oil of olay, or johnsons body washes...
anything else makes me bumpy and itchy! |

Wow!!! Thanks Chica's!!! I thought I was alone on this one. My friends thought I was being to silly and my doctor had no answers It's tough if I'm on a road trip and sometimes I might have to stay in a hotel unprepared so I just use shampoo b/c I had no shower gel. |

I, too found myself very sensitive to bar soaps, usually the irritant that causes the most trouble is the alkali that most manufacturing methods leave behind in the bar.
In my search for something that wouldn't irritate my skin, I came across a local company that hand-makes soap. They use a process that removes the excess alkali from the soap. And they don't use any harsh deodorants or other perfume chemicals, they are 100% organic vegetable oil bases, and use organic herbs, spices and grains for scent.
You can order online, I suggest giving it a try, it's worlds different from anything I've tried before or since.. http://www.vtsoap.com
Good luck! |
