Is there a way to mask the smell of a lotion (short of spraying unscented Febreeze or Oust on to yourself )by applying another lotion on top of it?
I just got this Godiva Skin Brightening Lotion today and I hate the very strong smell which does not go away. Not sure yet if I can return it, unless someone else wants it... |

The only thing I can think of is trying to change the smell of it by adding some essential oils.... |

If you still have your receipt I would return it first. Wouldn't you want your money back? |

This lotion indeed has this fragrance that is too strong and something that I don't even like. I am very sensitive to smell but would have considered it if it was even subtle.
Mabsy, what kind of essential oils would you suggest? I would think, mint, sage, chamomile, parsley, lime, thyme, eucalyptus, calendula, witch hazel, tea tree, and farnesol...
Susieq, I got it from Naturefina and their website (which leaves much to be desired) lacks information. I have to contact them via email (no other way!) so if they don't respond, then i'm SOL.
Unless someone else wants it, my other option is to apply another lotion on top of it to neutralize the fragrance such as:
CRYSTALUX CRYSTAL BODY POWDER

or
CRYSTAL BODY SPRAY

or

I would go with something minty (peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree etc) but beware that these can also be very strong in lotions and can hang around for ages (I have a tea tree oil body lotion that I use after waxing and the smell lasts for *hours*). Also, you would want to consider what type of smell the lotion has at the moment and try to figure out what addition would make it smell nicer. If you can't return it then, either (a) use it at night (that's what I do with lotions that clash with my perfumes) or (b) mix it with an oil but do so in batches to test out the scent. |
