I'm sorry, if there has been many threads on cellulite already.
But, I'm quite upset with the cellulite that I have on my thighs. When I researched on the internet, I found that the biggest component for cellulite is your diet. Well, I eat pretty healthy. And a good friend of mine who is about 30 pounds heavier then me (and also an inch or two shorter than me) does not have any cellulite, and I do!
It's not that I want her to have cellulite (I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy), but I just don't understand. Another friend of mine told me that when she lost some weight, her cellulite went away....but I've lost some weight, and nothing's happening.
And I've tried MANY creams and nothing's happening.
Any suggestions??

It may be disheartening, but there's been documentaries on 20/20 and such about the reality of cellulite. Most health professionals don't believe that cellulite can be rid of, technically it is just the structure of female skin, and something to do with how our muscle fibres cross instead of go straight like males... The only thing they suggested was fake sun tans, as it creates a softer glow around the skin, doesn't excentuate the dimples and bumps.

But I think if you do a good massage, with oil and things like grapefruit, aniseed, lemon, essential oils, it can help with circulation which breaks down fat and rids of water retention.

It is also to keep toned, leg exercises can help too. Things like pilates or yoga are good.

Even me, skinny asian build, I have cellulite especially on my legs, even my shins!!

That is very true...and it has to do with testosterone levels. Some women have more testosterone than others...while some have more estrogen. It seems more pear shaped women get cellulite vs. apple shaped women who get heavy in the mid section, but have absolutely amazing legs Sad I know i have lots of estrogen, and am pear shaped as well...and i definitely have a few bumps on the back of my thighs. Unfortunately, i have no advice on how to get rid of it..i wish i could get rid of mine!

Hi lots of disagreement over whether it exists- just ask women if you're in doubt.

Lots of things seem to contribute - I think this is why some folk get it, it's not just one thing, also there is a difference in the cellulite you can see dimpling the skin and that which you can only see if you scrunch the skin.

OK first and foremost yes our skin/fat is different than men, hence they don't get it, age slower than us etc, hormones, water retention, collagen production that slows with age, the skin weakens the bumpy fat shows up. Toxins in our bodies - just the everyday build up of gunk we don't eliminate because we're sat in offices 8 hours a day rather than move our butts. Massage is good as it increases blood flow to the area, increases lymph drainage.
Weight has nothing to do with it since I've seen plenty of skinny people as well as those who are more plump who have it however I would argue that Fat/muscle tone plays a part. I've not seen a woman with a low body fat % and good muscle tone with it. I know it's an extreme bodytype but check out the legs of sprinters.

Can't say there is a cure but IMO you will improve the skin by daily self massage or in you're flush with cash go to the salon as you can't get the same pressure doing it yourself. Cut down on junk foods, move more, do squats Smile

I was just watching CNN and they were talking about MesoTherapy. It's a series of injections that gets rid of cellulite.
