I'm taking more samples from other mineral foundation companies...ive been iffy on barefaced minerals because the lightest shade seems to be "Barbara" though it looks very yellow in the picture. My skin does not have yellow undertones..its pink and white. So..to anyone who has tried this company...Do you have an opinion? Are the colors different in person? And, did anyone get irritation from them? I'm still on the quest for something that isn't too drying for my skin..this past week, my skin is been so flakey its almost gross...need need need moisture...

Purpleturtle,

I've been looking at the foundation shades too. Not sure which would be best for my skin. I have very cool pinky undertones to my fair skin. I guess the best thing would be to order a selection of samples. I really like the BE shade I'm using ("fair") but am curious about other brands.

Sorry to hear about the flakies. I get these too sometimes even though my skin is uber-oily. Do you have a favorite moisturizer you can use on you skin? Maybe a gentle exfoliant?

Hello,

if you go to BareFaced minerals colour chart,

http://barefacedminerals.org/catalog/customer/product.php?productid=16213&cat=261&page=1

(hope the link works)

scroll down to Detailed images section and place your mouse pointer on top of each shade, a descriptive screen tip appears. At least the shade "Light" seems to be pale with pink tones in it. Maybe this helps you in deciding which shade is the best for you.

I've got samples of 'Barbara', 'Bonnie Fair' and 'Light Neutral'. I've not had any irritation from them. I've got oily/combination skin and they haven't dried my skin. The photos on the website are pretty good but I don't think they are 100% accurate. It's always difficult to get a true representation of colour on a website.
Barbara - very pale colour but looks to me like it is slightly yellow (maybe a hint of peach too). Although it's not yellow enough to go into the Shades of Sunshine section.
Bonnie Fair - another pale colour, I think it has a bit of a peachy look to it.
Light Neutral - Looks very pinky beige to me. When I tried out this colour my boyfriend said my skin looked too beige.

(Apologies for the naff colour descriptions but I can't even figure out the colour of my own skin tone let alone describe the varied tones of mineral make-up. Smile )

A really helpful website is Mineral Make-up Mania on delphiforums. Under the Mineral Mania A-C section there are lots of threads about BareFaced Mineral products. Lots of BFM users on that board that could give you more advice on the products. Smile

That is the thing i noticed about the barefaced site...they were mixing pinks with beiges...and so many of the colors seemed to yellow. im against getting a foundation with pink in it, because my purpose is to avoid looking pink...but i don't want to look like i have jaundice (sp?) either. difficult task to achieve, but i think through research i can this..

I have that Irish fair with pink undertone skin also. I received 3 foundation samples from barefaced minerals. Bonnie Fair, Light and Light Neutral. Light Neutral was very obviously too dark. I'm still taking Bonnie Fair and Light for a test drive, but I think that Bonnie Fair is going to be the best match of these shades for me. I don't know yet whether I will need to try an alternate shade. I have to live with the Bonnie Fair for a few days before I decide. It has very little to no yellow tone in it on me. I actually don't mind a hint of yellow if it is fair enough because it settles some of the redness in my skin, and I can't use peach anything. I'm not sure about the dryness question yet either. I got the velvet matte and it is definitely more matte than BE. I've also noticed that it seems to give more coverage than BE. Sort of like a more medium foundation.

I also got 3 sample blushes and two were far too tan or orange on me, but the Erin blush was really nice. I am going to order some eyeshadows to try I think. There are so many colors it is hard to decide what to try, but Rhonda has several light shades and as my face doesn't handle a lot of color well, it is nice to try shadows that hopefully will be subtle.
