i've just been browsing some other forums, where more senior members really bullied new people, and were rude, disparaging and intolerant of another's view. so i just wanted to say, thanks, it's really friendly and inclusive here.
you guys have done an amazing job. |

Hi and welcome,
Mostly we are a friendly bunch.
However the claws do come out if we think we are being spammed. Apart from that we all just want to improve/ maintain our skin and love to help each other achieve that ultimate goal.
I can truly say I have met the most amazing, knowledgable and friendly people through this site.
Beware of the Guapagirl though, her tongue is so sharp its a wonder she doesn't cut herself. (only joking) |

thanks. i was a regular visitor to this site for months before registering, and i'm glad i did.
i noticed the reaction to spammers, which is fair enough, particularly given the subject matter, but also kind of funny. but this other forum i was talking about was just outrageous. when people started new threads, they'd be told "we've already discussed this a thousand times, can we all just move on, and next time do a search of the forum before staring another silly thread". they even had a section of "newbies, read this first" i have no problem with the sentiment, but the tone of the posts and the support received for these posts by other senior members reeked of bullying.
as a result i probably won't go back to that website, but it did highlight one of the reasons i really like this one.
don't get me wrong, i can lose my temper, but one of the benefits of typing a response, is it gives you time to cool before you submit. and there is always room for courtesy.
there now, i have had my vent.
anyway, i am glad to be here. i check in during the day at work, to see what is going on, and to 'have a break'. another guilty pleasure. |

I know what you mean, mk, I've encountered that myself. Sometimes new people can't figure out search features, or don't have time to search through all of the results before finding something meaningful. |

Glad you joined We are mostly a friendly bunch, but yeah, spam & advertising brings out the worst in us (ok, I'll speak for myself - "in me"). There's actually two that I suspect at the moment but I'll bite my tongue for now (mostly ) and see how things pan out

I think I might have visited that very forum (unless it just shared those charasteristics). Such replies take just as much effort for frequent users as posting and pointing the users to previous discussions or explaining the search function. Some people just don't take the nice/constructive option... |

Would this happen to be the stuff under the Matrixyl, Argireline, and HA thread? |

You guys are good. I have no way of knowing how to spot a spammer, unless it's outrageously blatant.....
Anyway, welcome MK. Glad to have you join us.

Hi all,
I am with mk, this place rocks and I am so glad that I found it. I have so much to learn! I have been doing some of the DIY recipes at home and just love it!
Wow, how in the world do you pick out the spammers? I don’t have a clue! Thank goodness for Mabsy and carekate…..I would never know when someone was pushing a product. |

You girlies make me chuckle.
I suppose I do have a touch of OCD when it comes to skincare.
I am still curing folks - or making excuses for why the NHS is so lousy is a better job description!

Welcome mk I adore this forum! Not only is this a friendly bunch, but everyone has been so patient with explaining things to clueless me and very supportive as well. Thanks guys! I recently won an EDS voucher and my first thought at finding out is I'm already a winner for finding this forum. Talk about icing on the cake!
For the record: I actually look forward to guapagirl's posts. She is so witty and she cracks me up all the time. |

Crazyskin,
So do I enjoy Liz's witty chat but I wouldn't tell her.
She loves to spar with me and I would not want to deprive her of an alcohol free pleasure.
We do actually get on very well, just incase you think we are at war with each other. |

Hiya loopylori I have enjoyed your sparring with guapagirl, can't remember the thread now but it was a real funny back-and-forth. Yes, I do know its just for fun. You are quite witty yourself.
There have been times at work that I couldn't help but LOL at the posts. My officemates must think I'm looney |

Oh, and re the fact that you and guapagirl get along well, I did expect as much. My good friends and I rib with each other with little let up, but that's because our friendships are very secure and our motives are never in doubt. Nothing like a good spar, with or without alcohol! |

I am able to communicate without the help of a seabreeze you know!
It's just cos Lori's a teetotaller, she keeps taking the mick.
Crazyskin, can I be your new best friend? |

I coudn't agree more about the sparring being all in good fun. When my brother and I were growing up (we have a 2.5 yrs difference in our ages) we loathed each other. Fought all the time. I think the pure sight of each other made each of us mad.
Progress forward 20+ years (I hate admitting we're that old now ). Now, we really respect each others opinions and value each other as not only siblings but also friends. That being said, it is not ununual when we're together for him to frequently call me a smart***! To which I always reply, "Would you really respect me if I wasn't." The point being, we are very secure with our relationship and because of that we frequently match wits but it's always in good fun.
Anytime I see two friends who spar back in forth I always know they have a special friendship. It's not only about mutual interests but also mutual respect.
