Okay, what is the best Bare Escentuals kit to get... how do you pick the colors? Yes I am new to the site. Smile I thought maybe someone might be able to help me... I use mary kay but have heard so many wonderful things about this product... I use ivory color as I am very pale... I have red hair also so I know some foundations look better on a red head also... do any of you have any suggestions?

I appreciate any help you can give me!

Hello Cheri, and welcome to the forum! Smile
I am using BE now (looking to switch to Jane Iredale because of the great reviews here) - my shade is the Light, even though I am medium-toned. I use this shade because of its yellow undertones, the Medium was too pink-toned for me and looked artificial. I would think the Fair would be the best match for you. But look for retailers near you so you can try it first. If you are in the US, Sephora carries BE, and they encourage testing. They are also very good about accepting returns. HTH

I know on the infomercials they don't give you an option for the fair 1.0 color (their fairest shade). My sister got the lightest kit, which had fairly light..she has a medium complexion and it was still too dark for her. I'm very pale, and i used BE's lightest shade for about 8 months and found it to be too dark (peach looking) on my skin. It also gave me a very pearly look. I'm not sure if they have trial kits you could try...I think on ebay they may have some samples you could try for cheap to see if the foundation is right for you Smile

I agree. If you a very fair then the kits probably won't suit you as I don't think they come with the #1 in them. At least they didn't when I bought a kit a few years back. The lightest that came in the kit was the Fairly Light and that was a tad too dark (I'm MAC NW20). I can use either the #1 or #1 mixed with the #1.2. I think it would really help if you could find a place that stocks it just so that you can have a look at the shades...

http://www.beaddicts.com./

Go to Terry's Colour Comparisons, the shades are exacttly like the photos Very Happy

But also be careful because the colors may look different on different computer monitors.

Wow thanks for the replies... I think I am going to go with the suggestion of getting a couple samples to try first to see what shade. I did go to that site and found that they are so different from one to the other that it would be nearly impossible to just pick one... going to try a couple samples and then will order the real thing. Smile

I am addicted to BE. I was a die hard Lauder addict for years. I switched and couldn't be more pleased. I am fair, and I used the 1 mixed with a bit of 1.2 and it is beautiful. The foundation and products are wonderful. I get mine from here because they ship so fast. Get to Sephora and look at the colors, then order on line. Much easier!!!
