Hi, everyone. I am new here. Really happy to find this web forum to exchange beauty tips and advices on good and bad products. I mean you usually get information of a cetain product from advertisement and all they tell you is all the wonders and magic it does. As if the product is "perfect". So you cannot resist that sexy look on the model and bought the product but only to find that it's actually far from perfect. But here, every review is nothing but the truth. No more advertisement cons!!! yeah!!
Has Anyone tried the Proactive solution? Does it really work? I mean Jassica simpson and puff daddy are the spokesman.(am I right with their names?? Anyone have seen the commercial? Sorry, not a real pop music fan) I have finish my first package ( consist of a cleanser, toner and a lotion) but results are not significant. I am using my second package now but still not much improvement. I think I am going to pass this products. But I would really like to hear from others who use or used it. Thank you. |

Sorry, Pearl I have not used ProActiv, but I agree - there are some pretty high-profile celebs. who endorse it including the ones you mention. I saw an infomercial for ProActiv that Brooke Shields was on raving about it. Obviously people like Puff Daddy;P-Diddy;Diddy whatever the heck he calls himself these days, doesn't need the money, so maybe ProActiv really did work for him and the other celebs. Who knows....Sorry it's not working out for you as yet.

Hi Pearl - I haven't tried it but I know that there are a few EDS members that have. I have seen posts about it here before. If you do a search for previous topics (search function is at the top of this page towards the right) you should find a thread about it or some posts about it at least. |

I know people who use it and are very happy with it. I tried it when I was having one recurring cystic zit that wouldn't go away. Unfortunately I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide so I had to return it.
Also gave my friend the murad acne treatment which worked pretty well for his rosacea (sp?). |

It seems to me that the majority of those who are in these ProActiv commercials have a history of always trying to get and stay in the media - at any expense, or whether their claims at using the products they tout are genuine or not. The money they are paid is probably secondary. I never pay any mind to celebrity endorsements anyway - I'm too ingredients-obsessed for that! |

Hi Pearl!
Welcome! I wanted to reply to your question b/c I wanted to tell you DO NOT DO IT!!! I say this because a very good girlfriend of mine tried Proactive and then, (even though I warned her) my boss tried it and they both ended up with red, irritated, itchy, dry skin. Benzoyl peroxide is not good for the skin……so at least do a patch test first if you just have to use this product. (A good discussion on acne and benzoyl peroxide that spells out why it is not good for the skin: http://www.bion-research.com/moderate_to_severe_acne.htm ) And the final point for my opinion of “Don’t do it” is that the one person I knew that could stand the peroxide……..well, her acne did not ever go away. Even after using for 6 months, she still had acne on her cheeks and forehead.
Just my $.02
Good luck!! |

i've never used it, but i had a friend who used to have acne. Not REALLY REALLY bad, but many BIG bright red bumps on his face. Anyways, he used it and within 4 months there was a CONSIDERABLE improvement so that I asked what he'd done and he said proactive. There was a period in between where his skin was really messed up (irritaed, red, flakey etc).
I've heard of a few others who have tried it, but becuase of how their skin felt...they didn't continue using it for a long time. So they dont know if it works or not. |

Proactive is one of those products that you hear some ppl who swear by it, while others tell you to stay away with a 10 foot pole.
Here's a few other reviews on Proactive.
