I'm looking into starting w/ the extra exfoliating skincare. I'm thinking I'll start with the face wash. So, I'm asking for your oponions/guidance on the following products:
MD Formulations Sensitive Facial Cleanser
MD Forte Facial Cleanser I
(If you have no experience with the 'level' of formula, your input is still requested).
* Would I need a different, seperate cleanser to use first, to take makeup and stuff off first, then one of these to do some 'work'? Or will this do fine (I'm afraid I'm going to 'burn' makeup into my face, or get it into the 'clean' pores).
Also, I have skin that's fairly sensitive. I'm araid these are gonna burn so much I'll be scared to try them again. Sometimes even the 'clean and clear' type cleansers burn.
* What can I expect from using a product like this? Burning? Redness? Itching? Peeling? for how long?
* Can I wash my face with this 2x a day daily - as a beginner? or will you make a suggestion as to how to start using this, please.
The reason I'm starting this program is because I used to have a little acne, and now(even though my skin has cleared up), I still have dark spots that (from farther away) make it look like I still have pimples. Additionally, I have a little congestion...not really pimples, but many small bumps on my forehead. Also, I have some clogged/black (but not enflamed) pores on my nose and chin.
*Will starting a skincare regime like this help those problem areas?
* Should I also use other products? (ex: vit. C serums? Retinol cream?) I've been looking into [I think its Skinceuticals] C+AHA - to use daily in the AM; and their retinol .05 cream- 2x a week at night.
* Would this be too much?
* What about lotions like MD Formulations Skin perfecting lotion? Does that count as a moisturizer? Would it be overkill?
I know I have many questions, but i want to make sure I'm not (1) wasting money and (2) going to do more damage than good.
I'm 22, Halle Berry's skintone. Dispite all my 'gripes' I get dry on the cheeks.
Thanks for your patience, time and input |

hi there,
I would introduce all these things one at a time if I were you. For the record, I too have sensitive skin, but have found that I can use most things, it just depends on how I introduce them. The difference between the sensitive skin cleanser and the regular is the pH; not the percentage of glycolic acid. The sensitive is 4.4, so I am really not sure if you will get your desired results from this. If I were you, I would get the regular. This should help to keep your skin clear and get rid of that congestion you are talking about. This really only needs to be used once a day; I use it at night. In the morning, I just use water usually. (If I feel like I need a cleanser in the AM I use the Physiodermie sensitive skin cleanser.) I don't think you will experience any burning or peeling from this. If you leave it sitting in your face for a while, you will probably get some stinging them. I don't wear much make up, so just this cleanser is enough for me, but if you wear more make up, or eye makeup, you will have to probably use something else to take it off first. I might be tempted to try jojoba oil as a make up remover first.
After a week or so, as long as you haven't reacted to the cleanser, then I would introduce the C serum. I haven't tried the one you are talking about, but I am tempted to recommmend a simple C serum to start with. Maybe Vivier 10...probably better for sensitive skin, or skin with a tendancy to get dry. Again, after you have adjusted to this and don't get any stinging and are sure its not going to break you out, then you could add the retinol. I think once a week to start would be enough. On your non-retinol nights, I would use a good moisturizer. I haven't found one I love yet, so I don't really have a recommendation for you. I would stay away from the MDF skin perfecting lotion for the moment. I think if you are going to use the retinol, it would indeed be overkill. Also, you can keep increasing your retinol usage, and the percentage as time goes on.
After all this, as time goes on, if you find that you still want for exfoliation, you could get a weekly scrub. Something like Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion in a Jar. Another option would be a weekly peel, like the PSF Pumpkin Peel.
One last thing that is super important!!!! You WILL NEED sunscreen with these products. You should use it anyway, but when using AHAs and retinol it is even more important. At least an SPF 30, but the higher the better. I really like La Roche Posay Fluide Extreme 60.
HTH,

I use the MD forte glycare cleanser and lotion. I do not find that the cleanser take off makeup at all. I use the md forte cleanser and lotion in the morning and a different cleanser and the md forte lotion in the evening, when I have makeup on.
