I remembered this little home remedy for some reason and didn't want to forget to pass it along. I read it in Cosmo several years back and I swear by it. I posted in products because it is a "product," to some extent... Laughing

If you discover a pimple, cover it with a small amount of toothpaste before bed and it will be smaller in the morning. The toothpaste must have a drying effect or something. Use standard white toothpaste - the cheap stuff. It has never failed me.

I have tried this method also, because I read in Girlfriend or Dolly sometime ago that Avril Lavign (her white spotless skin in videos) also did the toothpaste method.

One caution: make sure you only use it on the spot, don't go over it, because it leaves a sort of dent where it was - might be the fluoride. I used Colgate and it caused this..

I used to do this all the time when I was broke and in my teens, yes it does work in drying the area. Hilarious in the mornings when you make your way sleepily to the kitchen and your byfriend asks what all those white things on your face are!! Rolling Eyes Laughing

But it can really irritate your skin but I think once in awhile is ok. Wink

Yeah - I agree that it's not a method to rely on all the time. More like an "oh my gosh I have a job interview in the morning and Mount Vesuveus is growing on my face!"

What type of toothpaste? Any ingredients I should be looking out for? Laughing

I've did this before and left it on overnight. I didn't notice any effect

Sernx

I just used a regular colgate toothpaste, I think the main ingredient is the fluoride (as it is the only active ingredient in most toothpastes anyway)..

I guess, in thinking about it, a lot of natural toothpastes contain salt and antifungal/bacterial ingredients like tea tree and citrus essential oils, so they could seem like having an effect on pimples.

I didn't notice a great reduction for those 'bump' type pimples, only the ones that had white heads that were quite large...
