I took the plunge and ordered the Skin Prep, C&C, and ADCE. I used them all last night and this morning. The only issue I am having is that the ADCE tends to pill and ball up on my skin. Am I using too much, perhaps? I use one pump for my face and neck. It does take awhile to smooth it all in. My makeup ended up looking horrible today! Like my face was peeling.
Any thoughts? Tips? |

OK here I go again
Did you exfoliate? It's a good idea to exfoliate once a week with a product that is suitable for you.
It is amazing how little JB product you need to use. 1/2 pump of Mineral Prep and AlphaDermaCE does my whole face and neck. After you apply Mineral Prep let it absorb. After applying AlphaDerma wait 5 minutes before applying makeup. I have never had a problem with balling but it would be my best guess that either you need to exfoliate or you are using way too much product.
As far as the C&C use in AM after the Mineral Prep and before AlphaDermaCE. Do not rub the C&C in but pat it on your skin. While I have no problem rubbing in C&C JB advises you to pat it on.
Hope I have been of some help. |

Winnie, thanks for the reply!
Well, this morning I gave it another go, this time using about 1/2 the amount of ADCE that I had tried before. I exfoliated last night and used Dr. H's CC this morning. I followed JB's directions on the C&C and have been patting it on. Even with 1/2 the amount of the ADCE, it balled up after I put on my sunblock this morning. I tried to sort of gently buff off the clumps with a towel, but it looked so bad that I ended up rinsing my face real quick and just putting my sunblock on.
I was thinking maybe to just use the ADCE at night. I have to use either a moisturizer or sunblock afterwards or else my skin will look REALLY dry after I apply my mineral makeup. Or I can just try to use a TINY amount during the day.
I'll keep trying! |

Nymue,
I can't really commment on the ADCE, but I don't think the Dr H CC is really going to work to thouroughly exfoliate. It will do a bit a guess, but I think you really need to use something a bit stronger...like a microdermabrasion product. Just my opinion... |

Hi Faith,
I can't use anything too harsh on my skin right now. I'm on a course of Accutane and my skin is extremely fragile and sensitive. I don't use the Dr. H CC for the purpose of exfoliation, but I figured it does more for skin smoothing than my regular foaming cleanser.
Thanks for the input though! |

It must be the application of sunblock over ADCE. Were you aware ADCE has a sunscreen in it? I am lucky as I have light olive skin and the SPF in ADCE is enough for me. When I am going to be exposed to the sun for a lengthy amount of time I have been using PSF Sunscreen over ADCE without a problem.
If you keep having problems with your combination of products try just using the whole JB system in the evening....C&C during the day. Let us know how you do. |

Good plan not to use anything too harsh then. I would probably just use the ADCE at night then too. |

Aha! I've figured out where the problem lies. It's not in the ADCE but in the skin prep! This morning I used the skin prep and the C&C, skipping the ADCE. After everything had sunk in, I used my sunblock (I have to as I'm prone to hyperpigmentation). And it balled up like crazy! I never would have thought that the skin prep would be the culprit. The thin gel consistentcy makes it seem like it sinks right into my skin.
I will have to tweak my morning routine until I find the perfect combination. Maybe I'll just the C&C during the day, as Winnie suggested.
Thanks for the responses! |

I have the prep and the ADCE and I have never used them alone I use my Jan Marini C-Esta, Jan Marin Factor A Plus, then the prep, my glycolic acid lotion, my ADCE and then my Biolait 30 sunscreen. I wait in between applications to allow for penetration. I do have a couple of different glycolic lotions I use with different bases. I have found depending on which one I use it can pill on me. At night I use my C-esta, the prep, retin a, and ADCE. Once in a while it will ball up. I am exfoliated very well and it still will do this. I also use the proper amount of product. I do so love my ADCE and prep. My face glows with the use of this product not to mention lessened my fine lines around my eyes and the lines on my forehead are almost gone. Even with the ocassional pilling I will continue to use this. |

I have been using JB products for 6 weeks. It took some experimenting, but I now use the Mineral Prep only at night. Moisturizer and foundation just does not apply smoothly with the Mineral Prep. I'm sure everyone has differnt experiences, depending on their skin type, and my dry skin needs additional moistuization after the ADCE, including my night routine after the Prep and the ADCE. |
