Hi all,

After a visit to my dermatalogist's office, my bf has become more interested in skincare for himself.

I am now gathering information for him to pick the right products so that he can get the best possible experience of skincare for the first time.

After some research, I have narrowed down to the followings for my bf (who is 28-yr-old; normal/combination/a bit dry skin; no acne at all; just 1 or 2 razor bumps occassionally):

1. Tend Skin Lotion --- Have no experience with it, but heard that it has a sting smell. I worry that smell will scare him away.

2. DDF Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 --- a light moisturizer that combine sun protection into one step. Is it good for normal/dry skin? Is it enough to be a replacement to after-shave gel?

3. Anthony Logistics All Purpose Facial Moisturizer --- it seems that it is an anti-aging product. He doesn't have aging problem so far. So, would the DDF one a better choice then?

4. Decleor 100% Apollo Collectoin --- consists of Cleansing and Exfoliating Face Gel, Moisturising Aftershave Balm, Shaving Cream, and Aromessence Homme. I am very tempted to this one as it is on sale now. Also, I am not sure my bf can keep up with that many products. I guess most guys prefer VERY SIMPLE steps.

A bit more information: in my opinion, he has close to perfect complexion. He uses absolutely no skincare products (not even shave cream and after-shave gel) other than the spectro cleansing gel. I afraid that once he starts to use "better" skincare products, he will become dependent on them and will getting worse if he quits or can't keep up with all those products.

Anyone has similar worries when picking up products for the other half?

Looking forward to hear from all of you.

Very Happy

Hey BigHead Smile

I got my boyfriend the Decleor Apollo collection + the comfort calming nourishing cream. As he never wetshaves I got the shaving cream, and he doesn't use the Aromessence Homme... as u say, too much to keep track of...so I got the Aromessence as well Laughing (use it on my legs after shaving...very good!)

But he really likes the cleansing gel and aftershave balm. He used to only shave 2-3 times a month, mainly because he didn't like how his skin felt afterwards. Now he shaves 2-3 times a week. He's not a corporate type guy who needs to shave for work...
He hasn't said anything about the moisturizer, so I guess he likes it ok...

I have the shaving foam and the aftershave gel for my legs, and I love it. I've got sensitive skin and have had problems shaving my legs.

All the shaving products have a strong scent of cloves and other spices, I think it's deliciuos and my boyfriend seems to like the scent on his skin too...It isn't a girly scent, but not the typical macho scent either...

All in all I think the products are really good and will continue using them myself...and they're not expensive! Very Happy

Good luck! and hope he enjoys whatever you finally choose

What about one of the introduction kits from Dermalogica, their skincare range is really good and I know in my experience males like the minimum of fuss and if they can everything from one range.
On EDS they do several kits, for the price of them it is possible to buy a few and you can always swipe the eye make-up remover Laughing
I'm sure the skin prep scrub would go down well as would oil free moisturiser.

Here's a thought. What if you bought him a gentleman's facial at a spa that you trust? That way, he can see how he likes the "feel" of products, and the esthetician can make recommendations. You might even ask for samples of products. That way you're still getting him a present, honoring his interest in skin care (I'm envious - my ex was only interested in cars Confused ), and not throwing darts on selecting products yourself.
