I know that back when we were discussing the Jergens Natural Glow someone mentioned the Johnson&Johnson one but at that stage we didn't get any feedback I don't think and it wasn't available in the US (or Australia for that matter). It's just become available in Australia recently and the MUA reviews are very good. It's also nice and cheap. Can anyone compare this to the Jergens?
Also, another one that is now available here is the Neutrogena Build-a-Tan lotion. Has anyone tried this?
Jergen's is not available in Australia so I'm figuring out what the best option would be to replace it (I can always order the Jergens from the US but it ends up being rather expensive). |

Hi Mabsy. I've been using Build-A-Tan for the face. I like it because it works like Jergens but smells better and hasn't any glitter or glow. It also has a sunscreen built in which probably isn't stable.
The tan is very, very gradual which I like because it looks natural. I've only used the one for the face.
Haven't tried the J&J, I don't think we have it here either. Olay Quench has the same type of thing as Jergens only it also smells better, like vanilla, Radiance Reviver it's called. I've used this on my body and it's very similar to Jergens. |

Thanks Lolli! So the Neutrogena might be a goer then. Great! The Olay Quench sounds nice (like the sound of a vanilla scented fake tan ) but that doesn't ring a bell - I don't think we have it here. |

Darn it you don't have the Olay, it's more expensive than Jergens but it's nice.
I forgot to mention that the BAT Neutrogena for the face took about three days to see a noticeable tan. Good luck! |

Hi Mabsy I used the Neutrogena Build A Tan on my legs last summer (too lazy this past summer )and was happy with it. As Lolli said it might take a few applications to get a noticeable tan, but I liked the idea of having more control over the color I ended up with coz I was trying to match the color of my very pale legs to the rest of my body It was easy to apply even for a self-tanner virgin like me. It did not streak and did not leave an unnatural orange cast. HTH |

I find the J&J leaves my legs streaky, no matter how well I exfoliate or rub it in. It also stinks of awful fake tan smell. If you can bear the smell, it's actually pretty good at building up a nice colour eventually on the rest of your body (not intended for your face, though).
Although loads of people seem to love it here in the UK, I personally don't think it's all that wonderful. |

I use the build a tan from Neutrgena. I like it. I used to use the Este Lauder one, but it is a bit pricey. The self tanners now are much better than even 10 years ago (more natural and less orange-y...don't ever ask me about Coppertones' fake tan circa '88!!!).
Anyway, the BAT has SPF 15 and I find I can use it as a moisturizer in the mornings. I usually use it 3-4 days in a week (I exercise in the AM) and I can skip my foundation at times if I want and not feel naked.
I like it and the price is better than EL. Also, everyone is right...it is cumulative. Once application is a slight tan....etc. So far, I haven't looked freakish and it comes off the same way....unless you exfoliate again...then it comes off quicker. |

Thank you for all your opinions. I love this forum!
Sounds like the BAT by Neutrogena is the way to go. I had a look for it in the shops today (not that I ran out of Jergens yet but you know how it is.... ) and couldn't find it. Will have a look again during the week. |

Mabsy, to sweeten the pot - using self-tanner the night before gives you an additional SPF4 the next day. Not much, but every little bit helps!
OT portion: Just in case I don't run into you before you go, have a great trip! And try to cram as much Dr Hauschka into your luggage as humanly possible |

Thanks Crazyskin! I didn't know about the added SPF, I know that people with darker skins generally have better sun protection but had no idea that fake tans are actually supposed to add anything (not that I would rely on just SPF4 - but still, every little bit counts ).
Thank you re:trip I'm off in five weeks. Luckily I'm coming back business class so I have an additional 10 (or is it 20?) kilos to pack Dr Hauschka into, or anything else for that matter |
