I have the balm and I love it, and I would love to use it every day but I can't because I will start breaking out. Could I use the oil every day do you think? I would rather use essential oils to moisturize my skin than gunky moisturizer that makes me look like hell even if it's oil-free.

I know exactly where you are coming from with the moisturisers. I switched from using as oil free moisturising lotion to just Jojoba oil, my skin has really improved. I no longer has oily skin during the day. If for some reason I feel I need something heavier then Grapeseed oil is better.
I even mix in my own essential oils such as Lavender or Ylang Ylang.

Sounds wonderful!! You are the third person today who mentioned jojoba oil, and now I am heading out to the natural food store to get and the other ones you mentioned. I love essential oils. Very Happy

I've added a few drops of ylang ylang to my regular face oil and it works great! A little bit goes a long way. Smile

Hi Madeline,

Just remember that essential oils like lavender and ylang-ylang aren't meant to be used "alone" ... but are meant to be distributed in a carrier oil.

Jojoba is a carrier oil ... not an essential oil.

Now, lavender can be used full strength as a spot treatment etc ... but I'm not sure about ylang-ylang.

And ... generally, there is a specified number of drops of essential oil that's put into the carrier oil. In 4 oz of carrier oil, some recipes might call for 2 drops of one essential oil ... but 5 drops of another. Some are more powerful/potent than others ... and "more" of some of them might produce the opposite effect.

Have fun at the health food store. Laughing

Mary

Mary do you apply your jojoba oil to damp skin?Does that help aid absorption?
Thanks

Hi Carol,

I do apply one drop [literally] of jojoba oil on damp skin.

I don't know whether it helps with absorption or not ... but I think it helps distribute that one drop of jojoba oil over my entire face.

I don't need a lot of moisture and one or two drops of jojoba is sufficient ... but in order to spread that small amount over all of my face, I need the dampness.

I hope that makes sense ... ? Laughing

Mary

Mary,I used to use this in place of moisturiser years ago till my skin started getting congested.I was using 1 teaspoon amount for whole face so maybe I was overdoing it..........?I'll try again with just couple of drops.

I like to use both Ylang-Ylang and Lavender oils. I mix them in grapeseed or an almond/vit E oil mix.
I also have been using Lavender oil at night for spot treatment because it seems to help me sleep.

I learned about Ylang-Ylang on this forum and it's nice. No more adult acne.
