First of all I would like to thank all of you for being so wonderful and helpful! This forum really is amazing!
I have been using IS Clinial Active Serum and Hydra Cool for over a month. I have been using samples of Pro Heal for just over 2 weeks. The time has come that I have to decide whether to order the Pro Heal...
I have not been overly impressed with my results from these products. I do not know if I have to wait longer before I see the positive results, but it seems as if many saw results quite quickly.
Even though my skin is oily, it does get dehydrated. My skin has been looking quite dehydrated since I have been using the products - my skin on my forehead especially looks a little stressed. I have just started using a moisturizer on top of the hydra cool but it still looks dehydrated...In addition, I have been having minor break outs - and just no glow!
If I do stick to my current IS Clinical regime, I want to mix in a vitamin a product (mainly for hyperpigmentation) - and I do not know if I should go for differin, retin a micro, skinceuticals retinol...Any advice?
As other possible replacements/additions to my current regime, I am considering trying:
1)Decleor Ylang Ylang Oil
2)Decleor Hydra Matte Regulating Fluid
3)Dermadoctor Pore Perfection Line
4)Pumpkin Peel Mask
5)TCA 12.5% Peel (I have that already but I have not tried it. I was going to get a glycolic peel but the staff at PlatinumSkincare told me that TCA was better for pigmentation).
I don't know about using too many products though. I for sure want to do the TCA peel. Besides that, do you think I should just stick it out with IS Clinical products for a couple of months longer and bring in a vitamin a product and if so - which one? (Excuse the compound question!)
Okay - this is way too long. I am just so very confused about what to do. I would love any advice!!! |

I found the active too drying. I use the proheal followed by hydracool and love it. But I also use cetaphil, Dr H cc followed by the clarifying toner before the proheal. You might choose just one and stick it out. |

Lela,
What are your AM and PM routines at the moment? I am a huge fan of the ProHeal and I am also a recent convert to Retin A Micro! I can't tell you how much both of those products have transformed my skin. The Active Serum should be doing a good job of exfoliating, but you may be over exfoliating. What if you just use the Active Serum every onther day for a while. |

Thanks AnnieR and faith.
I think I may be overexfoliating. I tried using the Dermalogica Microfoliant one day and that same week used the Juice Beauty Apple Peel Mask a couple of times (found a sample size - I do like it!). My skin told me to stop exfoliating so much!
My current AM Routine:
1) IS Clinical face wash
2) Proheal
3) Hydra Cool
4) Cellex C Sea Silk Oil Free Moisturzier (new to the routine and do not apply every day)
5) Sunscreen
My current PM Routine:
1) IS Clinical face wash
2) Active Serum
3) Hydra Cool
Faith, maybe I will start using the Active Serum only every other night. I am going to phone my doc for a perscription of Retin A micro. Is it still very drying? I was planning to alternate between this and the active serum... m....Other thing I thought was maybe I should get a gloyclic cream to use instead and use the active serum next summer - do you know how long the shelf life is? Also...what strength of the Retin A micro do you use?
Will the Retin a micro make my skin more senstivie for the TCA peel? How long after the peel can I start using the Retin A, in your opinion?
Still considering dermadoctor poreperfection line...and decleor (just too many products!) but I suppose I should stick to the IS Clinical products for a while...My Derm wants me to use Hydraquinone for my Hyperpigmentation but I am holding out.
Faith, what do you apply after Proheal in the AM???
AnnieR, what is your PM routine?
Thanks again! |

That is a pretty strong cleanser as well. Can you just use water in the morning? Or get something a lot more gentle. I don't think it is necessary twice a day and could be a big part of your problem.
When I first started using it I peeled a bit. I had to stay away from peels altogether for about 1 month, and I had to cut back on my glycolic acid cream to once a week. Now, it is fine, but it does take a while for your skin to get used to it. Now (after 3 months of use), I can use an AHA or BHA serum first, and then Retin A Micro, and not peel. I only do 30% peels once a month now though. I use 0.1%, btw. I have no idea about the shelf life, but I think every other day should help you for now. Once you start Retin A, I have a feeling that alternating will still be too strong. The Active Serum will help to get rid of the flakiness though, so you may find that you like to use it once or twice a week, while you are getting used to the Retin A. After a few months, you should be able to alternate them no problem.
I wouldn't use the Retin A after a peel until your skin has stopped peeling and you have healed.
I use Hydra Cool, or Emu Oil, or Jojoba Oil. What ever I feel like...and of course, sunscreen! |

Lela, what happened to the JM transformation serum? Was that not working out? Also, why the cellex-c moist. I used that a while back. I found it didn't moist. well-and at the time my skin was super-oily; it actually dried it out-it worked out well at the time because I used it in Greece under high heat & humidity conditions. I'm not sure I'd use it now, esp. if you're skin tends to be dehydrated & you're using actives. Maybe leave that out. Have you tried the Is moisturizer? |

My PM routine is Cetaphil, Dr H CC, DR H Clarifying Toner and Hydracool. I am also using the Derma Excel just on wrinkles around my eyes and nasolabial lines. I do an occasional TCA 12.5% peel every 4-6 weeks and very light microdermabrasions about every 4-6 months at the medspa for polishing. I cannot do Retin-A at all since I have very light rosacea and very sensitive skin. The proheal helps with that and has light retinols which is enough for me. |

Forgot to add I use IS Clinical Eye Complex AM & PM. I was trying my samples of the J&B Facial Prep, AlphaDerma and Okusil but put them on hold because I started breaking out and wanted to clear that up before trying again to see if I was having a reaction to one of the new products. My face does that very easily. |

I've been using the ISC line for about 6 months now and love it, too.
When I was searching for the correct regime, I was told (by one honest salon) that they found the ISC cleanser to be quite drying and suggested a much gentler cleanser. So I agree that the cleanser may be part of the problem.
I have the same oily yet dehydrated problem and using the Moisture Complex made a huge difference for me. I use the HydraCool in the am and Moisture Complex in the pm. For the winter, I'll probably use MC exclusively. It just takes a tad. I've never been a fan of HydraCool.
The JB line may be better for you if you're getting dry. For me, it was a bit too rich (or something) and clogged my pores easily. But many people do NOT have that problem.
Also, if the ISC doesn't look like it's working for you in the first 4 weeks, it may not be what you need. I saw results very quickly - like days!

Hello,
I was also wondering if I should switch to ISC skin care. I have samples of Proheal and Super serum on the way as I purchased the powdered sunscreen (IS) from Skin Terra.
Has anyone see really good results with the Proheal keeping acne prone skin clear?? I have tried a lot of products, yet this line is very appealing to me.
Thank you for any feed back, also has anyone tried the C eye gel?? I was thinking of purchasing Proheal, Super Serum and C eye gel yet due to the expense feed back is always a bonus.

There are people here more versed in the ISC line than me. From what I've heard, you would use ProHeal in the am and Active Serum in the pm. I'm not sure where Super Serum would fit.
I was told to switch to Super Serum when my "issues" were gone with ProHeal.
Let's see what the gurus say though......

Thanks for the speedy answer!!
As I mentioned before I have very acne prone skin, yet once I get it under control and keep in under control it is very clear.
I have been using some Bioelement products for acne in conjunction with Jurlique products - which have cleared my skin for the time being the problem is maintaining it.
Having said this the BE products are so strong, and being in my early thirties I would like to use products that are also anti-aging.
It is nice to have such a forum where others can share their opinions on the various products from personal use.
Thanks,
Feliz |

Not even 24 hours later and I believe that some of my problems are solved! Thank you so much for all of your replies.
Faith and Alexis52...I think you are definitely right about the cleanser being a big part of the problem I am not comfortable just using water to cleanse but this morning I used the Phytomer cleansing milk (that I had at home - used it after microdermabrasion) instead of the IS Clinical stuff and I think it really has made a difference (along with a moisturizer change)...THANK YOU. I hadn't even turned my mind to the idea that it could be the cleanser...What gentle cleansers do you recommend???
Marina...I was really enjoying the Jan Marini Transformation Serum at first - but then my skin was starting to look dehydrated and dull...and breaking out a bit. It just wasn't hydrated enough so I took out the transformation serum and tried the hydra cool and cellex c instead. I used to use Cellex C Sea Silk so I had it at home. I agree with you now: big mistake!
I had a sample of the La Mer moisturizing lotion and I used it today. I really noticed a big difference using a stronger moisturizer and a gentle cleanser: less oily & less dehydrated!!! What more can one ask for??? Has anybody tried the La Mer moisturizing lotion? I sure liked it but it is apparantly for dry/normal skin and very expensive!!! So I think I may go for the IS Clinical moisturizing complex - samples at least.
Thank you so much everybody! What an easy fix! A couple last questions (because I can't stop!): What is the best gentle cleanser for oily skin?
Also - with regards to Vitamin A products:
Faith - have you tried Tazorac - I cannot decide whether to ask for a perscription for tazorac or Retin A Micro or just to use Skinceuticals Retinol...which leads me to the next question...
Marina - why do you choose retinol over perscription Vitamin A products?
I cannot thank you all enough!!!!!!! |

I'm glad you figured out the problem. I was told by the nice lady at Theskincareinstitute to go back to using a gentle cleanser, such as Cetaphil, in order to get my ph balance back to normal and minimize the products. That, then adding the proheal was amazing. MY skin hasn't looked or felt this good in years. I was told by the IS Clinical rep to try the super and alternate with the proheal to see what worked better for my skin, but to stay away from polyvit and active and firming for sensitive rosacea skin. It is without a doubt the proheal for healing and preventing breakouts. My oily skin is now normalized and just glows, and my rosacea is nonexistent. |

Marina - why do you choose retinol over perscription Vitamin A products?
Several reasons. First, we don't have much choice in Cda regarding retin-a. It's either retin-a cream (really drying) or Renova-too rich. Mind you, now that I'm slightly long in the tooth I may be able to use it the renova.
The one thing I've found with DAILY use of vit. a is a waxy look. I couln't figure out what it was, but I looked like a waxed doll. Not good. As a matter of fact, I took a good look at my dentist's skin once (I had a good view under the magnifying glass thing) and noticed her skin looked waxy. Sure enough, ardent renova user. No one else seems to complain about this so either I'm unique or going nuts. Either way, retinol does not make me look like I belong in a wax museum & I am grateful. BTW the good effects are still there & I also don't have to contend with peeling & dryness. So, for now, I'm sticking with skinceuticals retinol. Of course, now that EDS is phasing out skinceuticals....I may have to revisit this & use retin-a on an every other day basis. Most on-line u.s. sites no longer ship skinceuticals to Cda (what's up with that anyway?) and it's getting expensive-the customs guys have me on a short list.

AnnieR: Nice to hear about your fab results!
Marina: Thanks for the vit a info! the skincareinstitute still ships Skinceuticals to Canada - but I am sure that you know that!
Did you see that EDS has IS Clinical now? When did that happen? |

That sort of bothers me a bit. I sent 2 or 3 messages requesting that EDS carry IS Clinical and then before I placed my ordered asked if there was any chance they would b/c I would wait to order and they assured me they would not be carrying it.
My second order of IS CLincal from skin are institute is on the way and I always have to pay a big duty fee.
Oh well I'm glad they are carryinig it for next time... |

The gentle cleanser that I use, which has been my staple for years is from Physiodermie...the Lait D'hygiene Corporel SL Sensitive Skin. Wenever my skin is reactive, this is what I fall back on. I have never tried Tazorac...sorry. |
