My skin seems to have gone haywire post-op and I have tried all my usual products but nothing seems to be calming my skin down.
I wandered over to the local pharmacy today and browsed their 'natural' section. I ended up buying a tube of 99.9% Aloe Vera Gel and a jar of Neem Cream.
I'm hoping the Aloe Vera gel might calm some of the redness and inflammation down. I'm not really sure what else it will do for my skin. Will it get rid of blemishes?
As for the Neem Cream, I don't really know what I should do with it. Is it suitable for skin break-outs? Would I have been better off buying the Neem Oil instead?
Is it normal for the skin to behave badly after an operation? It started off by becoming really, really oily and then it developed some dry patches. Now it is oily with dry patches and spots breaking out everywhere.
I have also found that my mineral make-up doesn't look right on my skin. The shade doesn't seem to match anymore almost as if my skin colour has changed slightly post-op. |

I had a very bad sun allergy this year and I could not bear anything on my face. It went away after a heavy prednicon-cure but when that was finished the excemia came back. Then I found Penzim.I still use it every night. You can read about itwww.zymetech.com

yes,it is unfortunately very common for skin to react, post-op. after i had surgery (my gosh, just over 10 years ago now) i had to deal with dryness and sallowness. but just think about how much trauma your body has just been through and the energy that your body is using to heal itself...facial skin will tend to be your body's overall minor concern...just treat it gently (ie. don't over-tax your skin with a lot of "actives") and (hard as it may be) don't stress about the state of your skin, because that'll only make it worse.
also, your eating habits are probably a bit off...and hospital food for any length of time (even just overnight)...ick. i can't imagine there really being much in the way of antioxidants and nutrients that skin needs to thrive on in hosital food.
give your body a chance to heal, and your skin will follow.
you might want to try dr. h's conditioner...it's made especially for these types of stressful situations...

Thanks for that.
I've been using the Neem Cream for the last couple of days and it does seem to have helped clear some of the spots. Fingers crossed the rest will disappear soon.
Will look into the Dr H stuff. |

Neem is anti-bacterial -- good for bacterial acne. Most likely your hormones have gone a little off from the surgery -- very common. Treat your skin very carefully, and give it time. Drink lots of water, exercise alot, help your body flush out the anesthesia drugs. |
