does shaving make hair thicker...or result in more hair growth?
cause, it seems that the my bf gets more stub the more he shaves...
will shaving my leg make me have thicker hair etc? |

....hair "thickness" is due to hormones annd genes, hair growth speed also has to do with hormones... But fact is hair grows ALL the time...

I just read somewhere, and it might even have been here on the forum, that the reason that people believe that hair grows back thicker when you shave it is because “virgin” hair feels very soft and sort of lies flat – think about the hair on your forearms, and most of the hairs are likely of varying lengths.
But once you shave that hair and it starts growing back, it feels like *more* hair has come back in its place because the individual hairs are now “blunt cut” (sort of like freshly mowed grass) and growing back it the same pace so that now when you run your fingertips over the area you’re perceiving more hair is there because now the hairs all feel the same (i.e.: stubbly).
I don’t know if that explanation is making sense...I wish I could remember where I read about this so I could accurately quote the description.
Anyway, I don’t know if the above is actually factual or if it’s simply another fallacy or misconception but the theory seems to make sense so it probably is true.... |
