After reading most of the posts at Obagi's web site, it is concluded that exfoderm or exfoderm forte is a key element in the whole process. However, my derm didn't prescribe me or any patients in the office to use that. I asked why and the office advised that the product is not necessary in ALL circumstances.

In addition, I was asked to use the Action right from the beginning two times a day (except for nights using Retin-A ---> using it every other night still in week 7). The Action will slow down the process and should be applied only if the skin is TOO irritated. Without ever starting to use OBAGI and seeing my skin reaction, I was advised to use the Action.

I am using OBAGI for acne. I talked to the staff at EDS and got to know that Comfort Gel should be used for acneic skin, instead of the Action. Anyone use Comfort Gel can give me some comments?

I understand that one should always follow what the doctor says. However, I have a strong feeling the doctor didn't look into my skin thoroughly (hope I feel incorrectly, but...I met her a couple of times for about 5 minutes each only).

Do you think I should add the exfoderm to my routine even I was not prescribed? I don't think it is HARMFUL to add this while most of OBAGI users are using it. Should I get the Comfort Gel in replace of the Action?

Need help.

Hello BigHead,
I think the best thing to do is go to another derm and ask all your questions. Obagi is a strong system and it is best to be under the care of a physician.

BigHead,

I was prescribed the whole obagi line including the exfoderm. Dr Obagi told me not to use tolereen or action unless I absolutely can't stand the dryness/irritation etc.

Actually, I don't think that's always the case. Sometime they're just plain wrong.
