Can't say I really care that much about how my skin looks however...

I have been reading about how the human mind subconciously assesses skin tone as an indication of the immune system - good looking skin not only equals healthy and therefore sexy but transmits the unique ability of the immune system to defend against bugs. This is why exotic skin from mixed race is more common in models than the rest of the population.

The conclusion? - If I spend money on clothes to look good on the pull why not skincare?

Now here's the problem - I can see that the industry is saturated with well, I guess I should mind my language. I'm not prepared to use something according to brand or fall for made up buzzwords. I want to know the basics.

I once cracked open some out of date vitamin B7 pills, crushed them and put them on my hair. Worked amazing, much better than anything I've tried before. That's the sort of thing I'm after - basics principles and raw materials -no corporate tricks.

Thanks

I think you may enjoy reading the homemade recipes thread:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5981

I am all for pampering my skin and resent lining the pockets of cosmetic/skincare companies.
Great tip about the Out of date Vitamin pills, you should post it up on the above thread Very Happy

Thanks...

but sounds like hocus-pocus to me. Why is this more reliable info than burying a potato in the garden and casting a spell?

Still, guess it's only cheap Smile

Jago,

I am curious...you found this forum and you are interested enough to ask for advise....but you are critical and suspicious of any advice given?

What are you looking for if not the DIY suggestions? You say the vitamins worked for you and several people that posted the DIY recipes say how much those recipes have worked for them, so why be so unbelieving of them? Pick one recipe that addresses what you are looking for, give it a try (some are very inexpensive), and see if it works for you.

Jago,

It is interesting to me that you take on the approach of the mind and beauty.

Alot of the homemade products that are on this site are not miracles but they do keep your skin on a balance to help prevent damage to your overall appearence. People i believe prefer them because they are not diluted with unnecessary chemicals.

My point do they really work, only you can be the judge of that. If you feel good about yourself as a whole, then you will look and feel your best. Good luck with the answers you are looking for.

I think it is just about finding what works for you and enjoying the products that you use.
