Well, I've only been using the UP5 for about three weeks or so but felt I had to report that I do see some changes. Somehow I look less haggard and tired - my saggy jowls are still there but my general appearance looks more refreshed and my husband keeps telling me how well I look. Considering that my husband retired last week, and is now hanging around my neck all the time, this is a miracle!!
I've been using the device every morning - it works out very well with the OCM. First of all I use the Vitamin C mode then do the cleansing, eye zone, facial and lifting modes. I must say that I'm quite enthused about this little machine because basically I'm a bit cynical when it comes to the promises that are made about beauty products in general. |

Good to hear,keliu!
It's a great little machine. So you use it with OCM? That's interesting. My skin looked less than lovely when I used it with my oil cleanser. Maybe I'll try again.
I did laugh about your comment re. your husband now being at home
My husband works a lot from home and it drives me M.A.D... I'm going to have to work out a lot of ground rules for the day when he never goes OUT to work anymore.. |

Hi DiPhx,
I'm in Australia and I got it from WinHealth:
www.winhealth.co.uk/Advanced%20Skincare.htm
They won't send to the US for some reason (a problem that us Aussies face all the time). However, I would imagine that the other ultrasound devices out there are all pretty similar and would do the same job. I'm convinced I'm seeing some lifting to my jawline. |

I figure it's perfect for OCM because it's giving your face a good massage - I just don't use quite as much oil and give my face a thorough wash before continuing on with the other modes. Yes, having the husband home all day is going to take some getting used to |

Does anyone know where the UP5 is made? I'm going to be in China, and I wonder if I can buy that or something like it over there? (I live in the US, so I can't order it) |

I just bought one which is made in China. It has ultrasound, positive ion, negative ion, infrared and combined function. After you use it, you don't feel dramatic effect immediately. However, when you wake up, you find that your face is quite clear without the oily layer. So, I think the machine helps the skin care to penetrate in deep and the skin is really hydrated. It just cost HK$180. Very inexpensive. |

Actually, I think you guys can purchase teh Nu skin one. I have tried once. The results is quite amazing. Your complexion is even immediately. However, it is rather expensive, costing about HK$1800 with a VIP price. Although it is expensive, it worths for the immediate effects. However, the machine should be used with NU skin products which is ionic. |

For those of you in the States, I think you should find out from WinHealth exactly why they won't sent to the US because I once bought an ultrasonic jewelery cleaning machine from America thinking that I would just get an adaptor for it. But when I took it to the electrical shop, I found that I couldn't just buy an adaptor, I had to buy a voltage converter (which was a great big machine) that cost more than the jewelery cleaner! I am no expert on all of this but I do know that the US and Australia have different power supplies - Australia and Britain are the same. |

FYI, at one point, they did sell the UP5 to the States and one member bought it from Winhealth before they cut us off. They sold a transformer with it for use here so it does not need a voltage converter - just a transformer. Might have been Boski who bought it, I can't quite remember but she might chime in or check earlier in the thread for confirmation. |

I am curious if anyone in the UK has used the UP5. I have been conversing with the contact person and in our last email she said:
Well - I am truly sorry. UP5 is a great device and it is very effective. As devices go - we are now selling it for couple of years and we had no single complaint about it. It sells a lot by actual recommendations - friend to friend. And it is shame that we cannot ship it to the USA. It is looked upon as iontophoresis device, which in the USA falls under the jurisdiction of FDA. If we were to ship it - it would only be stopped at the border and send back to us.
If you come to the UK or Europe on holiday - let me know. It is strange that you could take it with you from here to the USA and there would be no problem carrying it and using it in the USA. You are correct - you would only need to get a transformer to adapt it to the US voltage for it to work beautifully. It does wonders with the skincare! |
See above for the reason why they don't send to the USA. I ended up buying one with the adapter from a friend and she mailed it to me. |

OK! So you wash your face AGAIN after the OCM. This, I didnt do, because I never usually do. Glad you mentioned it, thankyou. |

Thank you allfor theiinfo on the UP%. AS
I'm not going to China or the UK etc, guess I
will have to look for something else that does work as well here in the US. Will try the Facemate as that device seems to have some
of the same functions. Am hoping that will help'with the wrinkles around the eyes.
Thx everyone for your assistance!! DiPhx |

Scalawa, so did this work? Were you able to order one and have it shipped to Canada?
Thx. R.
ETA: If it worked, would you mind telling us how much did you pay for the thingy + shipping, and did they include the power adapter? |

Hi - sorry it is early morning and I am bleary eyed. Did Scalli say you cannot use OCM with FaceMate? Also doesn't FaceMate have a function that will help melt fat and can be used on body or on areas to face like lower face or double chin? Just want to get really clear on what each does.
Also from what we can get from the descriptions - what exactly does UP5 had that FaceMate does not besides the eye lift and the sound? |

My understanding is that the Facemate requires a conductive gel to be used with it. On the other hand, with the UP5 you can use your own skin care products. So that is why I use the UP5 on cleansing mode with my oils. I came across this ultrasonic device last night, it also works with your own products.

Other than that, I'm sure sure of the difference between the two. I want to know what the diference is between the Nuface and the ultrasonic devices. |

you mean what the difference is between the lifting function of the UP5 and NuFace? I actually just emailed the UP5 people for details on the lifting function. NuFace is microcurrent and you glide it along the muscles. I have a microcurrent device at home now that takes forever to do and you have to hold it in one place for a few minutes and then more to another. The object is to get mild twitch to the muscles you are targetting and you can adjust the intensity for each location. Is this how the UP5 works? Are you still continuing to see some lifting of the lower face? Do you have Quasar and if so do you see a duplication of results here with them? |

Yes, the Nuface uses microcurrent whilst the UP5 uses ultrasonic waves that penetrate the skin but if the end result of both of these techniques is lifting, do I really need each of these devices. I know Scally has them both so shall have to quiz her more.
I do have the BQ - have been using it for about four months. I think it has improved the texture of my skin ie smaller pores but don't notice much improvement to my wrinkles. I'm making a long term commitment to the BQ in the hope that it will stimulate new collagen. I do think that the UP5 is having a tightening effect on my skin. |

Keliu -
I wonder too about the effects of various things. You think the ultrasonic waves is the same thing as FaceMate has? I think one of the benefits of both FaceMate and UP5 is smaller pores and improved texture. So I am just not sure if we realy need more than one because there is overlap. In theory the LED is supposed to get to the deeper collagen layers and that is that part I like about it and feel it is good to do that too. That might be a slower less obvious improvent, especially if you are also doing something else like FaceMate or UP5. I suppose the only way is to stick to one for a while then add in another without changing anything else. |
