Thus inspired, I rolled the whole lip area last night before bed. This morning, no difference. Typical.

I think I'm wasting my time with rollers when what my face really needs is more akin to a jackhammer.

Lol Hermosa, that jackhammer remark is funny. I find that it takes more than a few rolls as remember the purpose of the roller is similar to that of the fractional laser, to create channels of "deliberate damage" that are repaired by fresh collagen. Having said that, my arms show no improvement at all after about 20 rolls.

Antonia My friend Bethany who is a queen of rolling Very Happy says that the rollers were not helpful for her arms either.

Sis, yes, I remember Bethany's rather gory pictures Very Happy I am at a loss as to what to do about my arms actually. They look great from a distance as they are slim and well-toned but up close and personal? Yuk! I am thinking of asking my spa-doc to inject Resty in the area to pad it out. I am off upstairs to do my lips now...

Hi RG
I didn't want to keep clogging up this thread with my HUGE pics so haven't posted anything lately. But they're so much better than descriptions. Also we haven't had much good weather so the pic is coming out alittle darker than usual. Have just taken pic now and am wearing lipstick but no skin makeup.

I think the parenthesis is stronger than from the last photos but it's still better than it was. I haven't rolled much this last week TBH and no usage of RA since the 'experiment'.

I just recieved a shipment of my new rollers (.25, .5, 1.5), but I'm scared to try it. I haven't done a roll in a year as I was having constant breakouts from trying 302 Skincare (my skin just did not like it). I have a Dr Roller 1.5 and remember it hurt - even w/ Elma. And also, everytime I had rolled, an errant pimple would cause new ones to bloom, so I've been holding off until my skin is completely clear. (I could almost do one now - it's looking pretty good, just a couple of congested areas and a couple of healing blemishes)

Results like Mirandas do give me courage, but I'm really chickening out!

It is still an amazing result, Miranda. I rolled my lips last night (after two applications of Emla lidocaine cream). They don't look fuller this morning but I will persist with the torture.

It is impressive Miranda. The parenthesis are still looking good. Well, the lack of them. I am still peeling terribly. I'm looking forward to the peeling being finished so I can see what I've accomplished.

I chickened out on the lip roll last night. Maybe later.

Foxe, if your rollers are like mine, they'll beckon you to use them. I was afraid to use my 1mm at first. So, I let it sit in the drawer until one day I had to try it right then.

I roll the whole lip. Haven't done it with the 1.5m but I do with the 0.5mm and 0.2mm.

I'm going to give this a try later today when I do the .25 on my face. Miranda do you roll anything into the lip area and do you apply anything after? thanks.

Hi Sis, no I don't apply any topicals to my lips either before or after. It's probably just good ol'inflammation that makes them look plumper the next morning! However I haven't rolled for a few days so I don't think there's any inflammation now but lips are still feeling good. I do however dry brush my lips nearly every night (when not rolling) and have done so for nearly 20 years.

Thanks for reporting back on that, Miranda. So, since the line has come back slightly, what are you thinking in terms of inflammation for your initial improvement? (And, again, your lips are beautiful!)

I don't think it was inflammation; my skin is used to RA 0.1% (been using it for two 1/2 yrs) and used to 1.5mm & 0.5mm rolls. Obviously the RA and 0.2mm combined makes things more potent but I don't think it would cause such prolonged inflammation (line remained invisible a 3-4 days?). Having said that, I did get some peeling in the area which I haven't had for a long time. So maybe?
I do think I lucked out with what I was doing rolling-wise, combined with my usual monthly hormonal action and maybe the Tua Viso trick. The line is still improved and I'll be going away next week without all my toys (except vaculift) and we will see then.

Very interesting! I certainly will be watching for your reports. If you are able to keep that line as diminished as it is, or even make it disappear altogether, I definitely think I will have to try the 1.5 mm size roller, and start the .2 mm again.

This is a bit of a silly question, considering that the title of this thread is called "Dermarolling for Product Penetration"-- but I was wondering whether anyone had seen results just by using a small needle roller without using any product?

JLM - the short needle used in the rollers for product penetration will not reach the dermis that can effect the collegen building. There would be no need to use anything less than a 1.0 unless you were using it for product penetration.

I had my first roll with my new .2 roller and it did not go so well for me.

Rolling my forehead caused me to sneeze, my eyes to tear and my nose to run. It also hurt and I had a few blood spots. I had quite a few more blood spots above my lip as well. And my face looked beet red when I finished (only lasted an hour). Phew! This reminds me of rolling w/ my 1.5 over a year ago.

Did anyone have this kind of reaction with the smaller roller?

If so, did your skin react less to it over time with more rolls?

Foxe, are you doing anything that you can think of with your skin that might be making it more sensitive to things? (I read about your trouble with the AALS, as well, which just makes me think something is making your skin highly reactive.)

No issues w/ the AALS. It was something else w/ my not using the Dermawand correctly.

Not sure if using the Dermawand prior to the roller would be causing anything, but I did a quick swipe on dry skin before proceeding w/ the protocol for the roller. I also used an ACV toner. Could either of those have done anything? They're both suppose to kill bacterias.

I don't know foxe. Did you let the ACV toner dry good before rolling? Maybe that leaves a residue and I would assume the vinegar would sting or cause irritation if there was residue on your skin from it, but I am just guessing! I am sure the other roller girls will be here soon to give you their thoughts!

Miranda - you have done an amazing job of softening the lines around your mouth. Also you have inspired me to roll my lips and area around vermillion border. (second roll was tonight). I plan on adding in lip dry brushing as well. It's been great for the skin so why not the lips.

Foxe how did the rest of your face react? I agree - it sounds like something else was a part of the reaction process. In any case no way should a .2 be anything like a 1.5.
