Hey!

I just ordered a packet of Devina's Choice Peel Off Mask. I live in British Columbia Canada and with the exchange rate (from £12) cost just a little over $17 CAD with FREE shipping! It is going to take approximately 7 working days to be delivered.
Totally stoked to try this, it looks amazing, satisfying and ... probably addictive! AH! I will post update review after I try it! Surprised

I actually remember trying the biore strips and being satisfied with them - I agree, after using you have to use some sort of tonic to get them closed. Routing would be something like this : cleanse your face (to ensure no dirt left on skin); do the strips; follow with ice bath for face - will definitely close the little suckers.

Probably alternate various types of masks throughout the month...

I wish I could use those pore strips or any peel off masks. But they're just far too irritating since they peel off the superficial skin around it as well

well, now that the Canada Post strike is over I hope to get my mask sometime this week. I was devastated when the strike started before I got my Devina's Choice in the mail.

I think my process will be:
1. Oil Massage (1 part castor oil: 7 parts sweet almond oil)
2. Steam for 10 mins then wipe clean with soft cloth
3. Apply warm Devina's Choice mask (2 layers) and let harden (I think it is supposed to take about 1 hour)
4. Peel off, rinse with warm water
5. Rince with ice water then use a natural Lavender toner.

Will post results when I can! maybe even pictures! Very Happy

I have large pores that get easily clogged up and I am prone to blackheads. I've come to realise that exfoliation is the key to keeping my skin in good shape so I'm on the hunt for some HG AHA/BHA's and masks. I would like to stick to natural and organic products where possible.

I've recently purchased Queen Helene mint julep mask (because of all the raves, not too keen on some of the ingredients though), REN glycolactic skin renewal peel mask and have a tester of the REN multi-mineral pore mininimising detox mask.

I haven't used any of these yet as I'm currently using the Obagi system and I want to wait till I am on maintenance before starting to use the masks. Davina's choice mask looks very natural and is extremely cheap too so I guess I'll invest in some of this too and see which ones I like the best (I'll post reviews/comparisons at a later date).

Thanks for sharing Cool

Aztec bentonite clay is a good option if you don't like all those extra ingredients in the julep masque

I've never had much faith or luck with mask when it comes to removing blackheads. Even though I use retin A in the PM and a AHA product 2 to 3 times a week to help with cell renewal, they still persist. I even have microdermabrasion done every few months. In the end gentle exfoliation and extraction is the only way I can remove them. Since I've been doing the OCM, this has really helped in bringing them to the surface to be extracted easier.

I actually have a lot of bentonite clay just sitting there in the cupboard. I used it a few times, I mixed it with manuka honey, zinc, tea and tree oil. From what I remember it was ok for my blackheads but I was using it to treat an acne flare up and I didn't think it was that great. That being said, I probably didn't give it enough time, I also found the mixing a bit of a pain.

It's mainly the sulphur, paraben and fragrance in the mint julep mask that bothers me, especially as I'm using retin a, I read somewhere that it's not good to use sulphur while using retin a Question That being the case, the sulphur is not right at the beginning of the the ingredients list so I suppose it's not too big a deal.

I only bought 2oz of the mint julep mask so it's not a big one, I still intend to try it just so I know how it works for me, you never know it could be great Wink

I'll be very interested in know how the Devina's Choice mask worked for you. It very interesting because I found that castor and sweet almond oil which is part of the OCM followed by a steam is what helped to bring any blackheads I have to the surface. You may need to massage for atleast 5 minutes to get the maximum benefit. So the Devina's Choice mask may help to draw them out as the OCM would have soften the skin and assist for easier removal.

Also, I just want to say that when I do the OCM, every 2 days after using the Castor Oil/Almond oil mix and steam; I rub just straight up EVCoconut Oil on my face, massage for 2 mins and re-steam. IT seems to help make the skin extra soft plus I was noticing with out doing it the Castor Oil was making my skin kind of sticky and causing a little bit of congestion again. That stuff is really really hard to get off/out of your skin.

I tried the Boscia nose strips - I received two as free samples with a Sephora order. They were not effective, but I may have chosen a bad time to use them. I removed them after the appropriate amount of time and they felt dry to the touch on the outside. But they peeled off quite easily and didn't seem to remove anything with them. It was exceptionally humid weather when I tried them though. I'm not comfortable writing them off yet in case the weather impacted their ability to adhere properly.

I can't do without my Biore pore strips or Kose's Mask White or Daiso's Charcoal peel off mask (which works exactly the same as Kose's at a fraction of the price). My face produces a lot of oil and these tend to turn into clogged pores whenever I get a bit lazy with my daily routine and there's gentler and faster way to remove them.

As for the 'lifting off dead skin cells' part, I consider that an additional benefit!

Adding some information to using Biore pore pack effectively. First of all, your skin has to be freshly cleansed and free of any oil. This will help the chemical on the strip to adhere better to the whiteheads. Secondly, you have to wet your skin/nose thoroughly before pasting the strip on. Thirdly, the strip has to be completely dry on the outside, which means that you have to be careful not to get the outer portion of the strip wet when sticking it on. Lastly, wait for the strip to dry completely. The longer you wait the harder it will get and more whiteheads will be extracted when the strip is peeled off.

Kitty,I use a salicylic acid cleanser after OCM.Since it's made to remove oil,I thought it might work well to remove the castor oil too and it did.Neutrogena makes one,but I just used the drugstore equivalent.
