Generally speaking, you can go research this and find that fat bags under the eye are caused by sagging tissues that come with the aging process. I don't see how rubbing skin or putting something on top of the skin will resolve an issue that is occurring far beneath skin.

When I looked into this, there were only two possible solutions - surgery or fillers to fill in the surrounding area so as to mask the eye bag and not have it look noticeable.

The problem with removing the fat through lipo or surgery is ending up with an even worse problem - deeper hollows under the eyes.

Believe me, this was a big concern for me and I was encouraged to go for an under eye bleph and I decided against it for this reason.

Fixing problems under the eyes is tricky.

Barefoot girl and others:

Try Carole Maggio's Facercise program for this problem....you won't believe how quickly her undereye hollow lift exercise corrects this area. AND you are absolutely right Barefootgirl ~ you can create a MUCH WORSE PROBLEM ~ that being a hollowed out under eye area. Not to mention that all of these procedures are extremely risky!! Yikes. However, puffiness can indeed be reduced by doing the Facercise eye exercises. Check out Carole's site atwww.Facercise.com. She's 63 and looks late 40's and is 100% the real deal. Also offers online classes via SKYPE for those who need tweeking of their routines. I have an entire blog dedicated to natural skincare and beauty solutions at http://aprilevesblog.blogspot.com. You may need to cut and paste the URL to see my blog. I have been an consistent Facerciser for over 10 years & have my current photo on my site. I plan to put up a series of photos throughout the past 10+ years to show my improvement and how I have hardly aged. (I just need to find the negatives first!) Best wishes to all! Aprile Smile

Whats the best way to reduce AND FIRM my fatty eye bags without creams or botox? Someone mention facials, cupping? Acupunture? Im in complete desperate matter BUT NO SURGERY please...atleast not yet. Thank u

Hi Tasha,

There is a DIY thing that someone shared with me long time ago. I have not tried this myself but she did it at her beauty saloon and her customers were loving it.

What you do after cleansing your skin is to apply an eye contour or moisturaizing or whatever you like, non grease, please.

Wait few minutes and then apply something that acts as a tuck. She used a collagen serum that I have and loooove, but told me that a home equivalent would be an egg white. Maybe one of those instant flash lifting ampoulles would work too.

Once is totally dry and you feel it tight you have to put 2 surgical tape straps or equivalent this way:

Image

Just make sure they are no too close to your lower eyelid as it would be uncomfortable to close you eyes.

Wait for a while, but the longer you use it the better the results. Some of her customers would sleep on it.

When you take it off the skin is super-moisturaized and the puffiness gone, in case you have severe bags they would be improved but not 100% gone in just one session.

Hope this helps!

Wow, this is an awesome idea, I really want to try this.
I don't use moisturizers though because of the chemicals; do you know if it can be done without that? Is that just so the egg white doesn't get too hard to to remove?

I did what aprile advises and saw the eye bags disappear and promptly, after doing the exercises for only 2 weeks, STOPPED. So now, at 48, desperately trying to re-institute my twice daily exercising to get rid of these terrors!

The exercises really -did- get rid of my under eye bags in my 30s though. I will update this if I can do it again!!

I did use Clarisonic Opal device that helped me with them recently at a spa, which sold me. On the spot my under eye bags seemed better, though since a day or two post spa use of the device, I haven't yet been able to replicate the results.

At home I'm adding facersize + the Opal device. If I can figure out the ideal frequency and my eye bags disappear, I will advise, here.

If someone knows how best to use Opal for under eye bags, please email me or post here. I don't seem to be doing it right.

I had these several years ago. At the time no creams or serums worked the way I wanted them to. I did find some massaging techniques that helped a bit. Like massaging around your ear lobes and on down. I forget the procedure now. But what you won't want to hear is that I lost those fatty eye bags when I quit my overly stressful job. Took a couple of months but now I know it was stress.

I know quitting your work is probably not an option so search for the massaging techniques. It's truly the only that helped me at all. I think it was kind of like lymph node draining.

While I don't know how you can tell whether what is causing puffiness is fat, fluid, or loose muscle/skin, like some people upthread, I believe face exercises can make a difference. But from my experience spot-training will not cut it.

In 2005 when I developed puffy eyes within 4 months of doing a new face exercise program, a doctor believed what I had was fat that forms bags as we age and he thought my only option was getting surgery. I didn't not agree with his assessment because it did not make sense that my eyes could age so fast when only 4 months before they had looked like this (I was smiling in the second photo):

Image

Anyway, a year and a month after I stopped the program that gave me these puffy eyes:

...the puffiness had gone down a bit but now I had wrinkles over the ugly sausages:

It was at this point that I started a new face exercise program. And over time, those ugly sausages were eliminated. But I can tell you that it was not just doing eye exercises that fixed this. I tried that initially but all in vain. The solution came about when I committed to an entire program and trusted that tone in all muscles would smooth things out.

Even in cases where bags are hereditary, face exercises have managed to eliminate them as was the case with Margarita.

I do not use eye creams or lotions in the area under my eyes. The only thing I apply there is Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. My previous experience with eye creams was they led to puffiness--which may be what they are supposed to do in people with glaring tear troughs.
