I have rosacea, am near 60 and am worried about removing dead skin cells. Can I still give myself a facial. If so, any suggestions Question

You just have to be extra careful. My rosacea skin is still very prone to broken caps and breakouts so I use a Clarisonic and microdermabrasion cloth for cleansing. I just don't do professional microdermabrasion any more. I do an all natural peel or an occasional low-level peel. My favorite for an allover glow is GlamGlow tingling mask, love it and it doesn't aggravate my skin at all.

Thank you AnnieR. - what is the natural peel you use. I was thinking of using something like yogurt or pineapple... Idea

It is from all natural fruit enzymes and is called Nupeel.

A little goes a long way and it lasts FOREVER!
My esthetician used it on me for an ultrasonic peel/facial rather than the microdermabrasion and I was hooked.
I just forget to use it!

Hi,

In my opinion, it depends what you're talking about when you say facial. I think exfoliation can be accomplished with very little effort, a room temp wet washcloth gently rubbed on flaky spots will do. I have rosacea and also use metro gel. My idea of a 'facial' is I do some microcurrent, some mild massage treatments involving Yamuna balls, and I have found one good mask my skin responds really well to. It's by Eminence and it's called 'calm skin arnica masque.' Love this, makes my red spots much less irritated. I also like to make sure I use some good face oil after all my treatments, currently rose hip oil has been treating me well. It's often recommended for rosaceans. I think harsher peels, extractions, microdermabrasion really can be too harsh, I know it is for my skin. If you want to try out something a little more intense I recommend taking it real slow, test the waters first before diving in all the way. Don't try too many new things at once. YMMV of course. Good luck!
