Very few cosmetic companies make samples of specific products readily available to consumers--for free or for pay?
Often, I find myself having to purchase the full-size container, or just going without?
Do you suppose that this is a deliberate tactic on the company's part? |

Maybe. Don't count on them offering free samples since that takes a great budget. I would be happy if they could sell samples.Unluckily, you could only get them after you buy the full-size one |

Yes, I think it is a deliberate tactic. Making samples in different packaging is expensive. You have to be really sure about a repurchase to go through the hassle. Forcing someone to buy a full size just to try the product generates more revenue. |

Aveda claims it doesn't believe in samples because of the consumer waste in the packaging.
But the cost is probably also the reason! |

Shop at Sephora or Ulta! If you ask, they will make up a tiny sample of a product. Even fragrances! |

Will they do that for any product in their store?
What is the sample size usually like?
And do you have to actually go inside one of their stores for them to do that? Or, could it somehow be done online? |

Pretty much any product that they have on the shelf, yes.
Its usually in one of those little portion cups with the top on like fast food joints and they dont fill it full, just a dab. Unless you want a sample of a frag and then its in a little 1 dram vial with the plastic top.
It has to be in the store, but when you order online, they send samples if you have a VIP account and you have several choices.
In my experience, most any store will give you a sample IF YOU ASK. I usually say, "My skin is pretty sensitive. Will I be able to return this if it doesnt agree with me? Do you have a sample size that I could try first?" If they dont honor my request I just say thanks and walk away. Plenty of other stores around! |

I find they do offer samples but the higher the cost of the brand line, the less they are willing to give out samples.
For example, Cle de Peau, La Prairie, La Mer |

Does the quality of samples remain the same as the full-size product? |

Sometimes women's magazine is a good source to find samples. Got mine for Channel & Lancôme... |
