Hi all...I have posted here before about my skin issues but it is getting worse. 8 months ago I use an AHA lotion that left me with broken blood vessels, enlarged pores and even a couple small, shallow, slightly discolored scars (most damage is on my cheeks). The damage still remains, so I decided to give Catalyst AC-11 by Osmosis a try, since it is meant to repair skin damage. I had messaged Dr. Ben Johnson on Linkedin and told him my story and that is what he suggested. Well, only after using it for a few days, my skin looks worse. More enlarged pores, another couple small scars appeared, cheeks have a slight burning sensation, and I wasn't using even nearly as much as was suggested. I am sending it back. I am guessing my skin isn't tolerating the vit c. I honestly don't know what to do and need help. Should I just leave my face alone, or is there something SAFE and healing that absolutely will NOT cause any more damage? I don't want to take any more chances. I thought after 8 months my skin could handle vit c but I was so wrong. I had read niacinamide was good for over exfoliated skin. Anybody have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you...
EDIT: Also aside from topicals, are there any supplements recommended? I currently take vitamin c, vitamin d, and zinc. I also have some MSM powder that I take sometimes. |

If your skin is over exfoliated and irritated, your natural moisture barrier is gone.
I would NOT use any actives at this time. I would find a plain, bland cream that your skin likes and use that. I also like to use a spritz of mineral water.
Stay out of the sun.
You need to repair your skin first. Just a plain moisturizer for now. |

Thanks Autumn. I had used the Osmosis stuff because my face was no longer irritated from the AHA because as I had said that was 8 months ago (and during those 8 months I hardly used anything on my face), now I feel like I am back at square one Apparently 8 months wasn't enough. I wonder how long it will take for my skin to heal. Right now I am washing with CeraVe hydrating wash and if I moisturize I either use Cetaphil lotion or CeraVe AM. The Catalyst screwed me up so bad that my lotion was even burning my skin. It is getting better now that I have quit it, but I have decided I am never putting anything acidic on my skin again. Sigh |

Consider physical sunscreen as well. My skin got super sensitive and chemical sunscreen made it worse but physical was ok.
Also--this is like heresy for some, but even though I get clogged pores, I use vaseline on my face, except for my t zone and chin where I still break out. It helps the most. Helps a ton, actually.

If your skin is that sensitive, I know you'd like to handle this yourself but suggest you see a dermatologist. This sounds highly and unusually sensitive. Stick with plain, pure facial oils like jojoba, avocado, argan at night and Cerave, Vanicream or Cetaphil. |

I actually experienced something similar from using Osmosis Serums with Retinalhyde, for an entire year.
I bought all the products from an incredible argan oil company, Kahina Giving Beauty! I used the cleanser, pure argan oil and the moisturizing day cream. The products are very rich, yet did not clog my oily skin or make my skin break out. They basically helped to heal, protect, and hydrate my skin! You can get her products both in Canada and the U.S. |
