Hi,
I am 20 years old.
I had acne problems during my teenage years and had seen doctors to cure my acne problems. During the treatment process, he gave me strong facial cleanser foams, antibiotics, topicil (somthing like strong pimple cream) and various pimple creams. My skin started to become red and very dry and i realised it is due to damaged skin layer thanks to the doctor's "treatment" Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I tried going for facials to improve my skin condition. Though it helps, but it is not permanent since my collagen layer is damaged and i need to keep going for facial every month to replenish my skin's needs Crying or Very sad Despite replenishing the lost nourishment due to excessive use of drying creams from the doctor, my skin hasn't self-reproduce new collagen layer at my cheeks.

I am desperately looking out for ways to regenerate collagen again Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I tried use green tea creams/serums and all sorts of hydrating products but my collagen layer isn't growing. Has it stopped growing forever??? Crying or Very sad or the main thing is to multiply collagen growth? any advise??

Okay a few things here. At 20 your collagen hasn’t died or stopped growing. Your body is still going through changes etc and will do so for the next 8-9 years at least.

Now you say the facials improve your skin condition but it is not permanent. Well don’t be so foolish to believe that. The facials help to release stress, and improve circulation and this has an amazing effect as time passes. You say you need to go to replenish your skins needs and that is not true. You can easily do things at home which can work in conjunction with your facials but it is not the only way. Your collagen you say is “damaged” but I think this too is an error in judgment. Your face is capable of becoming healthy no matter what your age. If you were in your 60’s (like me) then I know it may be slower – but it will still change.

You say you have used green tea creams/serums and it isn’t growing. Well you have to get serious here and be realistic. Collagen is deep beneath the surface and when you use these things you won’t see immediate collagen regrowth. It takes at least a year of using topicals before they can deliver their long term effects. Rather than green tea – which I’m not sure I understand why you have chosen that because its antioxidant and not about stimulating collagen, why not choose a Vit C serum, or Vit A. Also your focus should be sun protection at such a young age.

You're 20, you're producing collagen. You're confusing a damaged skin barrier with the inability to produce collagen. Irritation to the epidermis does impact collagen production but you can't correct that without correcting your skin barrier. The harsh acne treatments have damaged the uppermost layers and you need to repair it..
You need to stay away from anything harsh or irritating until you get it on track and can repair your lipid layer with mild things like CeraVe Lotion and cleanser. Combinations of ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol, natural occlusives (such as grape seed and squalene) and humectants (such as glycerin, sodium hyaluronate/hyaluronic acid) in products such as Epiceram are effective at restoring healthy skin barrier function.

I've also heard good things about Tepezcohuite Cream. It's suppose to be particularly good at healing and rejuvenating the skin especially for those prone to acne.
Be patient and it will bounce back.

Honey, do not worry, at age 20 about collagen.

We naturally produce collagen, with the decline starting at age 18 by 1% per year. The signs of collagen loss are visible at being 30 years old. These are the stats. Cant beat them! However, if you have some scaring due to acne, you may want to diminish that. Look for products with PEPTIDES. They are small fragments that repair broken collagen bundles, they signal to the cells to make collagen. Because, remember: we naturally produce collagen! As a matter of fact it constitutes 70% of our skin. Products to consider, Peptide SERUM from Skin Liberated, or try Oil of Olay, they have a good one for the cheap one with Copper Peptides.

What I would suggest to think about is your pH. It sounds like with harsh treatments and a variety of the products it might be off. Quality soap and a toner would be my suggestion. And as the earlier comment-er mentioned, skin barrier and lipid levels to be restored. Did you know that one of the main reasons for acne is a dis-balanced pH?

Good luck!
