hello,

I am 56 and petite, 5 feet and normally 110 pounds
after treatment for months with chemo and antivirals I have lost 20 pounds and my face is saggy. I look and feel so much older but I am alive and well!

I am trying to gain weight back, any thoughts on if my face will fill out again? or what I can do
I am a naturopath and am familiar with all sorts of things but never really used cosmetics, preferring my natural oils etc.
I do facial exercises from Carolyn's fitness and have an active life homesteading, never ever ate junk or meat etc

any thought much appreciated

eat a lot of leafy greens…massage your face with coconut oil or some kind of oil and keep doing your facial exercise.. I bet it snaps back with time and tender loving care. I'm glad you are through your treatment.. may you stay well.

Surprised Thank you so much for your replies.
I use a combination of oils which I mix up.
Right now I am using neem, so great for the skin and I also use olive, avocado , and almond. I have not tried coconut but I have some and will do so.

Many blessings for your kind words.
I am happy to be alive and well but I was wondering if at my age if it even possible to bounce back, time will tell:)

happy full moon

Retin A
vitamin c (20%) with ferulic acid
You want to stimulate the production of collagen. Glycolic acid and TCA peels will do that.
You must wear sunscreen if you use of these.

I've also had good results with Tripollar Stop - you can get one for about $200 on ebay.

Good luck!

Hi,
What a relief it must be for you and your close ones for you to be well.

So, I think you have to balance out two realities. One is that you need to be gentle with yourself and do things that will rebuild your strength and immune system. The other is that your body has taken in a lot of toxin substances that that needs to be discharge from your system.

Our faces will show the condition of our body, in general. As you continue to rebuild and heal your body and eventually, gradually detox your body, your facial skin will improve.

To me, 56 years old is still young enough for your skin to totally recuperate to where it was before this episode and perhaps even better.

You said you are a naturapath, but are you working with a holistic oriented healer at this time, either naturopath or other natural healer. IT helps to have outside support during difficult times even when we ourselves are healers.

Regarding topicals, here at ED, we all have different needs and therefore recommend different options to others.

Personally , I would study about the Stop or any other radio frequency device before using it. Especially if one has had the need for chemotherapy recently. There is a long thread about the Stop on EDS. Somewhere in the thread a woman tells why her husband who is a bio-engineer (or some such expert) feels there is danger to the deeper layers of the skin in using such a device, although it is true that there are those who do very well with it, but there are no long term studies, as far as I know.

Acids, like topical Vit C are controversial, although many do very well with them other's skin, like myself, cannot tolerate them

Usually I won't comment on another posters rec's, but because you are in such a sensitive position, and seem like a skincare novice, and have a natural orientation being a naturopath, I felt it prudent to give you another perspective.

There are lots of threads on massage on EDS that can compliment your facial exercise program. Please contact Carolyn and ask her advice about what to do about this special situation. There is a great detox massage thread here, Tanaka massage works for many, also a thread here, and there is an active thread on inner facial massage that has many references that are facially regenerating.

I'll try to post more options soon.

Glad you are doing well!

This happened to me for health reasons... lasted for a few years and I thought it would never fill out.

But it did! So first of all, now that you are healthy, it will rebound. I also eat tons of raw fruits and vegetables, along with protein and fat, to help my body out.

Putting on muscle through some yoga, etc. has helped my face, I think.

And then retin a, definitely! good luck:)

It's great to hear that you're alive and well Smile.

I don't know all Caroyln's exercises, but to build muscle you need intense resistance training (hands as weights) and plenty of protein. Have you written to Carolyn? I hear she is a sweet, helpful person. Perhaps she can advise about your specific needs to fill a specific area quickly.
