Also--re Fukushima concerns. Wouldn't worry, most Japanese products clearly label where it comes from. Japan is a loooooong country. I think I've seen a map where Japan's coast is longer than the entire eastern seaboard, from Maine to Florida. So...source everything from Kansai, Hokkaido, Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa and you really should have no problems. |

Really? I suppose it depends on the sort of men you meet. Most older guys I know (50 and beyond) are not so focused on features as they are on the energy a person radiates--especially if this isn't their first relationship.
Warm eyes, a beaming smile, confidence, a sense of humor/joie de vive, good conversation, and just general well-being is what seasoned mature men I know appreciate in women. Unless an old dude is trying to procreate and so is looking for a certain gene pool or he's just looking for a FWB aka a sex buddy, a lady who shows up with the qualities I listed, could have small eyes, undefined lips and still snag the man she wants.
What most men guys want, IMO, is a woman who respects them and makes them feel good about themselves. |

^^ the kind of man I like anyway. If a man is just looking for a Barbie-doll lookalike and intensely focused on superficial features, he isnt interesting to me anyway. |

So why are you skin care addict if you dont want to barbie doll?
Dont get it wrong.No attack.
Do you believe by being and looking more beautiful you would have a better chance to love others and being loved from others?
The last sounds cool. |

I know you are not asking me but what has having good skin or looking young got to do with looking like Barbie? One has little to do with the other.
These women don't look like Barbie but they appear to have flawless skin (although it's probably all makeup, but we all know people with glowing skin who look nothing like Barbie):
Besides, if having a face like Valerie Lukyanova, who is a clone of Barbie, is what people yearn/aim for
...then it's easy to create that look with makeup as these before/after images of awesome contouring show:
(Personally it's Valeria's body not face that I find admirable, esp. that oh so tiny waist!)
LOL Skincare threads rarely stay on topic. So many interesting things get thrown in that bring up new discussions within the thread.
Anyway, to contribute to the thread, I agree with the fact that the Japanese do most things right w/r/t caring for their skin: diet, skin protection, etc. What hasn't been discussed yet but is also a huge hit among the Japanese is Rice Bran Oil.

For a long time, there has been a tradition in Japan that women rub rice bran in or put rice bran oil on their face to keep their skin smooth. These women, having smooth and shiny skin, are called "Nuka-Bijin" ("Bran Beauty" in English). It is a tradition and people don't know the real reason why rice bran or rice bran oil is effective in keeping skin smooth but it is thought that it relates to the functions of minor components of the Rice Bran Oil. The oryzanol, for example, can impede the progress of melanin pigmentation by restraining the eryhema activity of tyrosinase as it intercepts the ultraviolet rays at the skin's surface and hinders its (ultraviolet rays) transmission, and because of this, rice bran oil is used in sunscreen products and hair conditioners. Also, rice bran oil is used in lipsticks and finger nail polish since it holds the stick well and has a smooth spread-ability. Rice bran oil is being used as an ingredient in cosmetics, and this market in the U.S. is growing remarkably.
Rice bran oil was also known as value commercially edible oil. Despite its similarities to other common vegetable oils, rice bran oil offers several unique properties that make it very interesting as specialty oil in niche markets. It has a very appealing nut-like flavor and once extracted is very stable with good fry-life. But perhaps its most notable feature is its high level of components with nutraceutical value such as gamma-oryzanol and tocotrienols. Numerous studies show rice bran oil reduces the harmful cholesterol (LDL) without reducing good cholesterol (HDL). In those studies, Oryzanol is reported as the key element responsible for that function. Tocotrienol, on the other hand, is highlighted as the most precious and powerful vitamin E existing in nature and is said to have an anti-cancer effect, too. As a Vitamin-E source, rice bran oil is rich not only in alpha Tocopherol but also has the highest amount of Tocotrienol in liquid form vegetable oils. Rice bran oil is nutritious friendly oil. |

Dr. Oz on the Health Benefits of Rice Bran Oil
Dr. Oz had the ladies test out the rice bran oil to see how the oil worked in a range of dishes (and as we can see it certainly passed the test), but as a health professional, he was particularly excited about its health benefits:
Gamma Oryzanol. it convinces our cells to burn up the sugar in our blood that would normally get deposited in our hips or our belly. The same chemical reduces the absorption of cholesterol from the foods that we eat.
Omega-6 Fatty Acids. these decrease your appetite and help you feel full.
Vitamin E & Antioxidants. These are great for overall health.

The research study was for a textbook on skin aging; hence, the focus on the face. Different age groups within the study noticed different things about skin and faces. |
