..... SkinMedica is very careful never to list every ingredient on any product they make, which I don't like, because one could be allergic to one of the unlisted ingredients. The TNS has quite a few peptides in it as well as the human fibroblast complex and botanicals... |
I posted this on the other "DIY Under Eye Area - Success?" thread, but will place it here as well:
Here are the complete ingredients for SkinMedica TNS Night Eye Repair (from SkinStore.com):
Water (Aqua), Human Fibroblast Conditioned Media, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Unsaponifiables, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Arachidyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Boron Nitride, Polyacrylate-13, Behenyl Alcohol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Chrysin, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Phytosterols, Tocopherol, Tocotrienols, Squalene, Oriza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Retinyl Palmitate, Allantoin, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bisabolol, Butylene Glycol, Isoceteth-20, Steareth-20, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Arachidyl Glucoside, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Ethylparaben, Ethoxydiglycol
JJ are you saying that SkinMedica doesn't list their ingredients on their official website? Or are you saying they aren't listed on the product/box when you purchase it? I think by law they MUST list the ingredients on the product. You can usually find ingredients for any consumer product on the web (you may have to search high and low though!) |

I would think that any good glycolic/retinol type eye cream would work in conjunction with the TNS Night Repair Eye. However, my personal experience is limited to MD Forte Skin Rejuvenation Eye with TNS Night Repair. HTH! ~ JJ |
So maybe TNS would work similar with nightly use of RA cream 0,05 (applied after RA for an hour)? |
Mirjana, the way I did it was to use the products on alternate nights. I never layered the TNS over the acidic MD Forte. However, I am very sensitive to retin-a; when I use it on my face at night, I wait 30-45 minutes and then apply a layer of hempseed oil. I never have redness, peeling or flaking this way.
If your undereye area can handle the retin-a, I would still use it by itself with a moisturizer of some type over it after about 30 minutes. Then use the TNS the next night. If I personally were going to use the TNS and the MD Forte every night, I would apply the acids, leave on for 30-45 minutes and then wash off before applying TNS. Because that way, the acids have had time to work, but I'm removing the residue and applying the TNS to clean skin.
I put a moisturizing eye cream over the TNS as well, as I haven't found the TNS product to be moisturizing enough for my eyes. In essence, what I was trying to do here was use the MD Forte (or in your case retin-a) to smooth out the eye area, to create a smooth canvas of sorts and allow better penetration of the TNS Night Repair the next night.
Here again, though, it's whatever works for you. I knew my limitations and worked from there. I envy anyone who can apply retin-a and not look like a tomato the next morning. Thank goodness Miranda shared her tip about the hemp oil, or I would still be struggling with that. HTH! ~JJ |

| Mirjana, I noticed you said you were needing something for your upper eyelid. I don't know how JJ uses the TNS eye cream, but the instructions I got with it say not to use it on the upper lid, so I have avoided that area. Are you using your Retin A on you lids? You can use the RA on the lids (very, very small amount and start out with only twice a week if you are going to try it), or you can apply RA on the brow bone and it will "travel" to the lid. |

Hi everyone, I just want to say that if you intend to use retin-a under the eyes, you do NOT want to use MD Forte layered over it or beneath it.
|
Hi, JJ. I don't agree with that. I know the MD Forte definitely feels strong (at first), but glycolic acid and retin A is a great combination for wrinkles. I personally use the MD Forte in conjunction with my Retin A, as well as with the TNS and I don't have a problem with that. I think everyone will have to try it for themselves and see how their skin reacts. I also personally don't need any moisturizer over either one of these eye creams, as neither is drying to me. |

Damn! Isn't it always the case that as soon as you find something you love, they discontinue it!
Anyway, my MD Forte and TNS have now arrived and I'm ready to begin my new eye regime. Just a couple of questions, please?
Firstly, I see that you need to wait 20-30 mins after applying the MD Forte before layering some eye cream over the top, but what about the TNS? Do I need to wait a certain length of time, or just until the product appears to be absorbed?
And finally, is this a continuous treatment or do you perform it for, say, one month on, one month off, etc?
Sorry if these questions have been asked before. I did a quick skim read and couldn't find the answers, but don't have time for a more thorough read through this morning.
Many thanks! |
Hi, Majorb - of course they are in the process of discontinuing the product. I love it; therefore it WILL be discontinued! GRRRRRR.
No, you don't have to wait with the TNS, although a give it about 5 minutes to be absorbed, and if you have the samples rather than the jar, you may not even need a moisturizing eye product over it.
The only reason you wait with the MDForte is to give the Glycolic and Retinol time to work without changing their pH.
These two eye products have become my regimen. But all of us are different, and if you are happy with your results after a few months, stick these in the fridge for future use and see if you like just using a normal eye cream. I would venture to say that you will end up using them again, but they do have a lasting effect. I'll go off them for a week or so and then get back on them, just to see what happens. I've never had the lines return in just a week; don't know about any longer than that. HTH ~ JJ |

I still use the MD Forte a couple of times a week. It does help to smooth the undereye area and yes does work on fine lines. Very strong though so I would advise to gradually work it into your regime. Will also need something more moisturizing in between or a good oil.
Something in the TNS bothered my sensitive eyes so never found out how effective it was. HTH |
