I have always thought the Marie Veronique line looked interesting. Since it sounds like it is somewhat drying may be good for oily skin girls. Agree with everyone - thanks Amarise for your reviews. |

I'm only glad I can help. I'm sure many of you would provide the same info if some haven't already.
Yesterday I tried out the Devita Solar Block 30. It actually came in a white tube and a twist off cap instead of a green bottle I've seen online. I did the same routine in my previous posts, first on my hand, washed face with toner & serum, and lastly a second run with moisturizer underneath.
It's very similar to the Devita 50. They both have the same light almond scent and no whitecast. I'd say the differences lie in the finishing feel on the face. Where the Devita 50 leaves a good moisturized finish, the Devita 30 just feels lighter in moisture level. Also to me, the Devita 50 seems to be just a tad more easier to spread onto the face. I would also prefer to use the Devita 50 on my face versus the Devita 30 for the extra protection and one step less. Still an excellent product though.
Out of all the three, I would rank them by priority...
1.Devita Ultra Solar 50 (Micronized Zinc Oxide 19%, Titanium Dioxide 8%)
2.Devita Solar Block 30 (Micronized Zinc Oxide 14%)
3.Pratima Neem Rose 30 (Micronized Zinc Oxide 18.6%)
These are all based on my needs. My skin is combination which is acne-prone, mainly oily in the t-zone area in normal weather that can dry out easily. I wanted a sunscreen that had at least over 14% Zinc Oxide, fairly transparent, would not clog my pores, no silicones and had mild preservatives. An option I desired was having a moisturizer and sunscreen in one which I didn't expect to find a good one with my criteria.
If you already use a moisturizer underneath your sunscreen, then the Devita 30 and Pratima 30 are very good. Especially if one does not care for the Titanium Dioxide in the Devita 50.
So right now I'm planning to use the Devita 50 for my face and the Devita 30 for the body. When my sample of the Devita 50 runs out, I will test the Pratima 30. I aim to watch out for protection when I'm out in hotter sun longer. For summer beach days, I plan to try out the Burnout sunscreen for body & face. |

I Like Sofina Sunscreen. I have acne prone skin. But you need oil cleanser to wash this sunscreen. |

You mention that you will buy Burnout when both Devita's and the Pratima are gone. Did you not like the Devita 50 well enough to repurchase as your permanent sunscreen? |

Oh I'm definitely going to purchase the full size when I run out. I just want to try the Pratima and see how well it holds up as far as breakouts and protection for a fair assessment. But I do see myself trying the Pratima for only 2 weeks and giving it to my mother to finish off.
I consider the Devita 50 to be a everyday sunscreen underneath my makeup. If I were to be at the beach, I would want to use the Burnout for both the body and face instead of the Devita 30 just for the higher level of zinc oxide. I also wouldn't want to use the Devita 50 for the body & face at the volume/price to be reapplying it every few hours. I'd like to treat it like caviar. So it's more of a cost-effective thing.
Hope I didn't make that any more confusing. |

I've now tried the new and improved version of burnout's "clear and clear" sunscreen and it was great. It was easy to spread, it was light, and there was no white cast or flaking. So basically in order of less moisturizing to more moisturizing it's "clean and clear" then "kid" and then "ocean tested".
On the whole, burnout sunscreen is the best sunscreen I've tried. It's everything that a sunscreen should be, I'm really happy to have found it. |

I wonder if I had the old version or new version of the Clean and Clear? What was your issue with the old version? I bought mine at the end of 2009 (about 5 months ago). |

I think you had the old version. I bought mine in January, and it was sticky and tacky. So sticky that it wasn't usable on its own, I had to mix it with some Devita in the palm of my hand in order to apply it. I think you also said that you found the clean and clear version difficult to apply, so I think you had the old version too. |

i don't understand what's in the devita solar 50 ss that stings my eyes so badly...
somehow, i'm very suspicious of this formulation. it must have chemical ss agents in it--otherwise, why would it sting my eyes, and leave no whitish cast?
it really feels just like a chemical ss to me.
anyone else have a similar experience?

Sorry that it's stinging your eyes. It hasn't for me so far.
Also, you shouldn't worry much about the formulation, there are other physical sunscreens that leave no white cast due to the micronized size.
If you look at the ingredient list, there are causes for the stinging of the eyes.
I know in particular many people including my mother that if they get pure aloe vera near their eyes, they start to water. It even could be the vitamin c in it. |

Yes, yes, it sounds like the old version. "Tacky" is how I would describe it. I preferred the Kid's version. So the "new" version is much improved? You are tempting me to repurchase |

Ditto! I emailed them for samples, but they never got back to me.
I guess I'll just go ahead and order now that the Sunscreen Queen has blessed it! |

Me, too. They never got back to me if they give and/or sell sample sizes. I guess it is cheap enough that if we don't like it for our faces, we can use it on our bodies! |

I've just been reading all the reviews on physical sunscreens. I'm from Australia where sunscreen are real must!! as we have one of the highest skin cancer rate in the world. The best is called "Invisible Zinc" ESP environmental skin protector. It's a clear, physical, mineral sunscreen, the only active ingredient is zinc oxide 20% w/w and its nano free. It is SPF 30+. In Australia we don't rate sunscreen over 30+. It is so good that they even have a invisible staying powder that's gives a perfect finish to help set the sunscreen and to provide a velvety texture. I've tried a lot of other physical sunscreens but I always return this brand. Unfortunately I've never seen it available outside Australia.
For more info go towww.invisiblezinc.com |

Based on the ingredient list, the most likely cause of the eye irritation is the hyaluronic acid. |

can't be! i slather HA on my face all the time and it never stings. i'm not talking when you get product in your eye sting, but stinging the eye when being very careful not to apply it anywhere near the eye area.
the only reason i worry is that it's the exact kind of stinging i get when i use chemical sunscreens, and this one is supposed to be all physical, but previous formulations from devita has methyloxycinnamate.
perhaps i'll email the company and ask.

I ordered the Burnout Eco Sensitive because I'm curious about how it compares to the Dermaquest. I figured if I don't like it on my face I'll use it on my body. I was wondering if anyone knows if the Burnout Eco Sensitive is made with Zinclear or regular ZO? I'll try emailing Burnout and see if they answer. |
