I've been alternating: retin a one night, a mix of estriol and progesterone the next night.

Some nights I use nothing at all except a bland moisturizer - I think it all backfires if the skin is not allowed an occasional "rest".

The last rest my skin had was in 1976!

Totally agree. In fact I was looking at photos and when my skin looked its best, it was when I was into the "less is more" attitude and alternating products - not using something every night and/or day.

how many days a week are you gals using the estriol. I am tempted to use only 3 times a week alternating with retin a. does that sound ok.

I've only been using topical hormones for a few weeks but I do believe this is the best thing I have done for my skin in a long time.

Each morning that I wake up after applying the cream the night before, my skin feels as soft and smooth as an infant's butt and I swear its looking younger each day.

My 20 yr old daughter is blessed with amazing skin - never one blemish nor one freckle nor any marking of any kind ever in her life..and I often reach out to stroke her cheek - not just because I love her but also because I love the feel of her skin, lol - and now my skin is beginning to look and feel like hers Smile lol - well, not quite, but you know what I mean.

Barefoot - which creams are you using exactly. I tried Ovestin but I think I had a reaction to it - all these little spots over my face, even under my lower eyelashes. So I've stopped using it. I'm now using the Life Extension Serum that has just 1% Estriol. After Christmas, I might try using the Ovestin again to see whether the same thing happens.

For those who don't want to use the hormone replacement cream, the Life New Face might be a good option. It has some nice ingredients in it - it's a light milky serum that sinks right in so I wouldn't say it was moisturising. I asked the doctor about using an Estriol cream when I had the Sculptra last week. He said that a topical containing a low percentage of Estriol should be fine.

I have been using the Ovestin (purple tube) - no problems with breakouts, flakes, nothing - just smooooth, soft skin.

I also started using some leftover Estrace I had as well. That works great too!

If you Google around you will find a funny discussion of this on You Tube - where a woman discusses her youth secret on Oprah - vajaja cream LOL

also would this work? it has estriol and estradiol.

I've been intermittently using Estrace .01% cream [estradiol]but am concerned re: its safety. I am 56 yrs post-menopausal since app 48 years and never used HRT during menopause. I definitely see difference when I apply it to top of my hands and some times feel tingling after application. I read in a post--either here or the smart skin care forum about mixing the estradiol with a moisture cream for better absorption so I've been doing that--I put some moisture cream on my arm and a dot of Estrace, mix with brush and apply.I have several questions.
1. How do those who use this feel about the safety of this?
2. How much do you use? I start with dot and when that's gone, use another dot, etc. so don't know exact amt. I use. Maybe two dots face, one dot neck, one dot on ea. hand.
3. I read someone uses it to plump her lips--do you think that person means they use it directly on their lips or above the lip where the lines are?
4. Do you use it on you neck, chest or anywhere else and are you comfortable with using it there?
Thanks so much. This is my 1st post her. I find this forum very informative.

Very Happy So pleased to have found this thread!! I've just started a great interest in hormones recently and the information here is so good!

Welcome eifc7 to the forum!

After reading here and searching a bit here and there I've got myself the estriol cream, which I didn't know I can buy OTC where I live in Europe. Will use for the first time tonight. Anyhow I'm also thinking of trying out a natural progesterone cream and alternate on the face and see how it goes, when I had a check up about six months ago, the gynecologist mentioned that on the next yearly check he may want me to try out taking progesterone, so I'll probably go see him before schedule to see if he thinks it is okay to use it on face skin.

About 'less is more', I'm the kind that wants to try everything at once, and I've learnt that is a no-no... even this past week I've done massage, exercise, AALS, creams with strong actives everyday twice or thrice a day! and my skin and eye area just looked tired, haggard... I decided on Friday evening to just clean and put on plain moisturiser -Nivea, no massage, no ex. , yesterday the same all day nothing but just a plain moisturiser, and today my skin looks soooo much better.

Anyhow, I'll start the estriol cream tonight after the rest! I'll post if I notice anything positive.

Thank you so much ladies for all your input!! Very Happy

I am going to check in with my gynecologist AND the doc I see annually for my mammogram (since having a scare and breast biopsy a few years ago). My OB is BIG into BHRT, (in fact a Dr. Baalmann is in her practice), and she prescribed testosterone shots for me a few years ago. It was the breast doctor that warned me about hormones, especially estrogen, in feeding the growth of breast cancer cells where they exist. I am going to check with her as well before I do anything with this, as promising as it looks. Just wanted to pass that on for anyone else with any family history or previous breast scares.

Hi all! Wanted to bump this one back up and see how those of you that ordered and tried the Estriol on the face are doing. I am getting ready to place an order for some other things I need from an overseas pharma and was considering throwing in some of this with it if you all are still getting good results.

Thanks!

If you are taking BHRT for menopause, you probably don't need this cream because your face is plumped and thick skinned as a result.

I agree. Estriol is the weakest estrogen, it flushes right out of the body in 12 hours. If you have wrinkled thin skin & hot flashes insomnia etc you would probably benefit from full blown BHRT to restore overall bodily function. Estriol isn't meant to be viewed as a cosmetic.

I am totally confused regarding all this HRT & BHRT stuff!!

I am 48, had a hysterectomy a year ago, but still have ovaries. I had my hormones checked about 5 months ago and the doc said I am pre menopausal? I suffer from terrible insomnia, and sometimes night sweats?

I am interested in taking something if it would benefit me, (general wellbeing and skin)Could I use this Esteriol cream?

any advice would be appreciated..

I think you are correct. I just finished reading this:

Anti Aging From Head To Toe: How To Prevent Sagging

Anti-aging: fixes to everything that droops, drops and drives you crazy.

Is everything going south, sagging boobs and a sagging butt, well Dr. Oz has some good news to fight this age old problem without surgery to lift our sagging body. Dr. Oz: Sagging Breasts And Butts Remedies.

Eventually everything goes south, as you age gravity takes over and everything starts to sag. It’s not just the outside of your body that sags every year, things on the inside are dropping too. Your hormone levels, the chemicals that keep you strong and fertile are actually falling the further you get into your 40's and 50's. Those dreaded waddles on your legs and arms, blame them on lost elasticity the result of collagen fibers in your skin, muscle and blood vessels breaking down over time.

So what can you do to fight your body from going south? Dr. Oz has the directions to find your aging body’s true north. Dr. Susan Evans, Joe Dowdell and Dr. Evelyn Minaya.

Dr. Oz: “Evelyn why when the hormones go down do our bodies go south and sag”?

Dr. Minaya: “That’s the biggest misconception everybody has, everybody thinks that a drop in estrogen means only for the vagina but it not only affects not only your inner self but it also affects your outer self. Your skin, your muscle mass, your energy level and trust me when I tell you when everything goes south I feel it too just like you, but we have some easy remedies for you”.

Dr. Oz: “Sue your world expert on the face in particular, correlate estrogen drop and your face”?
Dr. Evans: “When estrogen is plentiful that’s when your face looks young and smooth, your making a lot of collagen. As it drops your face starts to sag and that’s when my patients start complaining about the bags under their eyes, the jaw line not being defined but we have some answers here today”.

Dr. Oz: ” Joe talk to me about physique and hormones”?

Joe Dowdell: “Well not only do you have a drop in estrogen but you have a drop in testosterone. Testosterone is very important to building muscle mass, and if we want to help the drooping effect, building lean muscle is going to be the answer for that”.

So I think it would stand to reason that anyone taking BHRT or HRT (estrogen - be it estradiol or estriol) would be seeing changes in their skin without having to apply it necessarily to that part of the body. In other words, applying it to your inner arm should show up in your face. (not talking about OTC kind - not strong enough probably)

The link didn't work for me. It sounded like a great article since I'm at the point where it seems like EVERY THING is sagging.

Also important to consider is how hormones are dosed.... I've been looking in to something called the Wiley Protocol. T.S. Wiley says it's not how much HT you take, it's what your body *receives*. If your receptors don't get the hormones you don't have restoration. Restoration it seems is one of the big secrets to rejuvenation.

I love my estriol cream (Smoky Mountain Brand). It's the weakest of the estrogens and from what I've read appears to actually interfere with the "bad" estrogens and may even be protective against breast cancer.

My wrinkles are GONE! My skin is no longer tissue thin and it's really "plumped" up. Dark spots are fading. Friends are asking if I changed my hairstyle because they can't figure out why I look so different Smile LOL ... GOOD different.

My OB/GYN prescribed HRT "pills" with estradiol/progestin to help with my terrible brain fog. YIKES! side effects of cancer, strokes, bleeding for months, blood clots ... too scary for me. There is a family history of breast cancer. I decided to try the BHRT instead.

I'll be sending in my "Saliva" test next Monday and see how it's going. I feel soooo much better! I'll also see the doc again in 6 months.

Every one should read Dr. Lee's "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer". He devotes an entire chapter to Estriol and Progesterone BHRT. I also use progesterone cream. He discuses in great detail all of the hormones and what they do. READ it! especially if you have girls at home.

So far great improvements in skin, headaches are gone, brain fog is gone, hot flashes are gone, I'm actually pleasant again ... wonderful, I also feel & LOOK 45 again! (I'm 55)

Started at low (1/2) doses; especially with the progesterone (Life Flo), and did have some worsening of the hot flashes & breast tenderness at firsts. Added the Estriol for my skin mostly and the hot flashes disappeared.

Now that I've been on the progesterone for a month it's time to stop for 4-5 days and it will be interesting to see how I feel during the break. I won't stop the estriol since it doesn't need a rest period like the progesterone.

Cool Beans!

Hi everyone,

Apologies if I sound a bit dim here, but I find this also sooo confusing.

Is this Estriol cream weak enough for anyone to use? or does it have to form part of a wider BHRT treatment?

I had my hormones tested due to PMS and low mood, and was prescribed progestoerone cream. However, I think I might need a combo of hormones as the progesterone cream made me feel worse and I gained weight really quickly.

Any help or advice with this would be greatly appreciated as my skin is becoming rather thin anf flat,

many thanks

Jackie xx
