Winnie - I use JB products with IS Clinical, but I only use JB once a day.
I use the Firming Complex at night since it's an AHA product. I don't want to overdo AHAs, and I like that the FC is very effective but gentle at refining the skin's texture.
During the day, I use Super Serum (has 15% l-ascorbic acid), followed by Skin Prep (sometimes), ADCE and then Avene high SPF sunscreen (whose active ingredient won't be degraded by ADCE's octylmethoxycinnamate -- very important if you place a high value on ultimate sun protection like I do). As I said in an earlier post, I'm using my sample of Pro Heal (which contains a retinoid -- another reason not to use it during the daytime if you care about sun damage) over the Firming Complex at night, but only on lines and freckles. I may decide to get this product when my sample runs out because of the retinoid. But since products that treat lines and discoloration take a long time to work, I'm not certain yet if Pro Heal is great (unlike the Firming Complex). I'm assuming the Super Serum is helping - time will tell.
I'm 53 with somewhat dry skin in Winter and combination skin in Summer. ADCE provides enough moisture for me, along with the Avene sunscreen formula (there are many) I'm using, which is oily. In fact, now that it's humid, I have to dab some powder on my t-zone. I may need extra moisture in Winter but for now I don't.
I'm awaiting more comments about IS Clinical eye care (don't have any major problems there thankfully, except dryness in Winter), as well as any of their other products before I determine if I need anything besides Super Serum and Firming Complex.
Bottom line, my skin looks even better with the addition of IS Clinical, and I've only used it a week! |
Thank you!!
I am going to order the Firming complex next week. I do love C&C so I will use it in place of the Super Serum (think that's their C). I think I will get a sample of the Super Serum just to try it. Thanks for the tip on suncreen. I learn something new everyday. I was not aware that not using the right sunscreen could degrade ADCE. |

Winnie - ADCE's effectiveness won't be degraded by sunscreen. Rather, the OMC in ADCE will degrade the effectiveness of many sunscreens. That's why I'm using Avene (see my posts to Bad Bird on the "Bad Bird and other sunscreeners" thread), which is only available online from Europe. The shipping charges are steep, making a tube of sunscreen cost about $40. I've gotten even more serious about sun protection lately, and feel it's the MOST important beauty product for the skin. |

Hi M.April. Can I just ask, what is OMC? I keep seeing it mentioned in sunscreen threads, but I have no idea what it means. Thanks |

Molly - OMC is octyl methoxycinnamate which is an active ingredient in sunscreen. I use Avene products that contain the active ingredient Tinosorb, which is much more stable and therefore more protective.
Molly - I'm editing this to suggest you ask Bad Bird about OMC. Or to check the "Bad Bird and other sunscreeners" thread which you should be very familiar with by now! She goes into detail about the dynamics of sunscreen actives. I seem to recall that when OMC is mixed with certain other sunscreen actives, it degrades their effectiveness, but I'm not certain and I don't want to research this subject again. |

Um, it's my turn...
About one month ago I purchased the Super Serum and recv'd samples of Firming Complex, Hydra Cool, and Poly Vitamin. I like the consistency of the SS, not too much slip but not drying either, if that makes sense. I use it in the morning as my first step. I really am enjoying the Firming Complex and use it every other night, alittle goes along ways. I do have to use a moisturizer afterwards on my cheek area. I must say that I peel just abit the day after. Keep in mind though that I'm not accustomed to using AHA's on a regular basis, so hopefully my skin will adjust. I havent' seen any drastic changes in my skin, although it seems somewhat smoother. In time I'm sure the changes will appear. Now for my negatives (err, don't hate me please).
I tried the Poly Vit and HydraCool one evening and my face turned red and got extremely tight. It felt like there was no moisture on my skin and my skin became warm. Umm, I left it on for as long as I could take it--about 10 mins. and then off it went I'm really not sure why this happened and have been leary too try the combo again. I'm glad many others are having luck with the products though. You can see why I wouldn't dare try the Active Serum--I'm afraid I'd look like a beet
So for now I'm saving my $$ to purchase the Firming complex and then grab a sample of Pro-heal. Hope this helps those considering IS Clinical..it does have some great products!
Lisa
**edited to add I use Cliniques Active White Labs Sunscreen--Titanium Dioxide/Zinc--fairly high precentages. |

Mabsy,
I worked with Denise at agelessmd.com. Her email is agelessanalysis@yahoo.com. She was great. She sent me all the samples I asked for and I sent her a check for $3.95 just to cover shipping. |
Thank you skybaby. I felt bad asking for samples so I decided to buy something from there Well, not for that reason only - I want to try the LRP toleriane fluid so I ordered that and asked Denise for a sample of the Active Serum (and told her that someone she used to work with recommended her ). I hope she has the samples in stock |

Hey Lisa! We NEED the pros and cons of IS Clinical before we spend hundreds of dollars! It's good to know that not all the products work for everyone. Because this stuff makes changes so quickly, I'd imagine that the potencey is pretty high, too. The company even says that!

I did it! I ordered the Firming Complex. Samples of Super Serum, Active Serum, Hydra Cool. I spoke with the owner, Mary Rice, personally on the phone(lovely person). She encouraged me to use the Super Serum under the Firming Complex during the day. I am to get back to her and let her know what I think of the products.
I have never responded to this thread before but don't think I haven't been reading it.
Thank you Katee, Lexy and all who responded. You made my purchase much easier. Thanks m.april for letting me know about using it with AlphaDermaCE. |

LOL! I decided to get ISC because 1) I'm a skincare junkie, 2)you started it and 3) a guy came around trying to sell me Cutco knives to the tune of $350. I figured my face was worth more than nicely sliced vegetables.

Winnie, That's really interesting how she told you to use the Firm Complex. Are you supposed to use it twice a day? I guess it really does matter what you're trying to achieve with one's skin. They aren't suggesting "one size fits all" which is a good thing. Let me know what you think. (Like I had to ask ) And congrats on taking the plunge!!!!

Lexy - I'm still using a Cutco knife I bought 20 years ago!!! I got sucked in by our attorneys' wife, who referred the salesman to me. I wasn't keen on the idea of being home alone with a knife-wielding stranger. But it turned out he was a pre-med student and son of one of the most prestigious surgeons in town (I still was nervous ). I told him the minute he walked in the door that I wasn't buying anything. Well, when he broke out a hard, thick piece of rope and cut it with the utmost of ease -- I was sold! That knife's still sharp too!!!
Winnie - I'm intrigued you were told to use the Firming Complex during the day. The skinterra rep I dealt with told me it was a nighttime treatment. Plus, I'm wary of wearing acid products when I'm in the sun. Even using them at night requires good daytime sun protection since AHAs are exfoliators.

April, Are you telling me you bought only ONE knife? Actually, I bought the steak knife set . I have a knife and a pair of scissors I bought thru them 30 years ago! I figured I give my old knives to my son who is getting an apartment soon. Errr, when he gets a job first.
I'll have to check with Kalologie next week and see what they say about some of the items. For instance, I'm getting samples of Pro-Heal and Poly-Vit with my order (that should be here Monday) but I forgot to ask when and how I use them. So I'll ask about the Firm in the am. My thought is that it would be too much to start, that is, layering Super serum with anything except moisturizer and sunscreen.
Look at me. Now I think I'm an aesthetician. Lexy |

I am glad I ordered the firming complex but now I am concerned about using it during the day. I actually asked the owner twice about the application. It really makes sense to use it in the evening. My gut tells me not to use it during the day. I live right on the coast and spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer. |

IS Clinical Hydra Cool Serum ($80.00) - helps soothe, even out the skin tone and hydrate the skin; can be applied morning and night on as needed basis
SkinCeuticals Daily Sun Defense SPF20 ($28.00)

Dear Katee and Marina,
Thank you both for your kind replies.
I have a sample of Hydracool. I did use Hydracool after using Active Serum. I have been reading this whole topic thread that Katee started one more time to collect every one's wits.
I think I am like April. I need a mild AHA treatment. I should give Firming Complex a try.

Rose,
I will report back when I receive the Firming Complex. Should be here by the end of the week with my bag of samples. It had been confirmed to me by two different IS Clinical techs that given my skin type I should use the Firming Complex two times a day. They are sending me samples of the Super Serum during the day (under Firming) and of course the HyraCool I talked with both companies on the phone. Unbelievable how lovely they are. I need to thank Lexy again for all the support she has given me this past week. ISC will not take the place of my ADCE but looking for the exfoliation properties of this line. Sounds awesome!!!! Heavy price tag But, it is our job to try and review these products. |

I have been using ISC for two days.
Evening:
Active Serum (you know this baby is doing something)
HydraCool (No extra moisture needed)
Day:
JB C&C (holding off on trying Super Serum sample..I don't want to like it )
Firming Complex
AlphaDerma
SPF 15
Of course I need more time to give ISC a review but I do love the way my face feels after my evening application. One of my problems is large pores on my chin and nose. Yes, they are smaller already.
ISC is a tad pricy but if it continues to give results I will buy it. The Firming Complex goes a long way and spreads wonderfully. I figure it should last a couple of months. I do only have a sample of the Super Serum, HydraCool, and Active Serum. The sample bottles are so darn cute. I can find many uses for them when they are empty (Avocado Oil - Lips). |

Hi there Winnie !!!
That Active Serum has got to be the most awesome pore minimizer that exists on the planet ! If I had to isolate one single thing about the line that I loved immediately it was that.
I did have lunch with my derm yesterday and I asked her about using the Firming Complex twice a day, i.e. after Super Serum and before the Hydra Cool, etc. She said that it was fine to do as long as I wore a good sunscreen. She did say that it might be a problem for someone whose skin was dry though. But, she agreed that the firming effect was so immediate that she uses it as a spot treatment in the mornings too.
On the alternate nights that I use it, I apply it to my entire face and jaw, but I've started to use it where I want extra firming in the mornings as well. I love it, but now it means that I'm gonna use even more of it!
Man, I wish their stock was publically traded....I'd invest and then I wouldn't feel so guilty about spending all this money.
(I'm LYING....I don't feel guilty at all but just in case my bf reads this.....grin) |

Lily,
I got mine from the Skin Care Institute. I later spoke with Juline Hamilton,
Manager,
Kalologie Skincare
(310)276-9670. Juline could not have been more helpful even though I did not buy from them.
Both companies are very helpful. I know somewhere in this thread it is mentioned worldwide shipping. Both companies send samples with your order. |
