I have heard many womwn talk about using the Emjoi, which is a "brisk" tweezing instrument that does not have the pain associated with tweezing and removes the hair at the root, just in case anyone is interested in looking into that.

I have resorted to shaving my upper lip. Creams. waxing and tweezing just are too darn painful. I get a burn from creams and wax takes a layer of skin off every time.

The hair does not grow back thicker. It is true, it does grow back blunt, not naturally tapered. But, my hairs are white blonde I want them gone because they reflect light and look odd. So, growing back blunt is hardly noticeable, they are so thin and light. I've shave every couple of days and not done it for weeks on end. If you have really dark hair and a lot of it on your face, it doesn't matter what you do, regrowth will be noticeable.

It really is something a lot of women do all the time, we just don't talk about it for some reason. Maybe because some of us tend to freak out when we hear someone does it or asks about it. The facts are facts, hair does not grow back thicker and darker, period.

If it were true it grows back thicker, darker, etc. Then men, by the age of 40 or so, would be nothing but black from ear to ear. They would have one hair that grows out.Rolling Eyes

I don't think shaving causes the hair to come back thicker, but the danger is that you can make your pores bigger somehow? This is just my theory. I only shave my legs about 2x a year, for important events like weddings or whatever. I don't have those large unsightly pores on my legs that I notice many many women have (no offense to anyone who has those - which is probably a lot of people). But my sisters shave their legs on a daily to weekly basis, and they do have those large pores. So I would say that shaving does have some sort of effect, though not on the hair itself.

I've shaved my entire face before out of curiousity and nothing permanent happened (though the first batch of hair grew back stubbly because the ends were blunt)... but I only did it once.

DO NOT DO IT, GIRL!

You will end up with a mustache! The hair will grow back more coarse, and like bristles!

Girls if you really want to remove unwanted hair on your face then try this product from facialhairthreading, you can type this word on google then website will appear . I was going to salon before I found this product, they burned my skin with thread. This one is really nice with less money. If you do bleach it will certinely burn your face especially if you have dark skin. Also girls please do not try to shave your face. Hair will grow back thicker and people can tell it when they see you. I hope I helped for your question. I thank to God, that finally I found something to solve my problem without going to others and waste lots of money. I am a Canadian so they will charge shipping cost too but if you live in US I think they won't.

Question, I checked out the web site you listed for the emoji (I looked at the tweezer product). So do you use this? If so, why does it state you can use it everywhere EXCEPT EYEBROWS? Now for me, my eyebrows is the place I most tweeze.

Hi bergquis,

I purchased the Emjoi Tweeze - the little battery operated one that is meant for single hairs here and there.

While it works well on longer hairs, the really short stubbly ones that are hard to tweeze anyway, it cannot seem to latch onto. I am not sure if the larger ones work any better on those types of hairs or not, but I can say that it does not hurt like it does when I use a regular tweezer... It is more like a pulling sensation.

The reason why they do not want you to use it on or near your eyebrows is because the Emjoi kind of sucks the hair into the tweezing mechanism, so you cannot shape and define the eyebrow area. If you used it too close to that area you would just pull out whatever it latched onto... Shock

If you decide to purchase it, the latest one is supposed to be easier to use as it holds the skin taut so that you do not have to... Wink

Take care.

I shave my mustache regularly 3 times per week and there is not any effect some people talking about! Hair doesn't grow faster nor thicker. An, it is painless! I hate wax!

I think some ppl do it all over the face for the exfoliation. Theoretically, it sounds great, but I'd probably end up with nicks and rashes. Sad

I shave my entire face & neck on a regular basis. I love it! After shaving, my skin is smooth and flake-free. Make-up goes on smoother and looks better. Skin creams absorb better. I have been doing this for years and new hair growth is no different. Do a "test" patch if you are concerned.

I shave my face (upper lip only) from my 16th, twice per week, and I don't see any effect like growing faster or thicker. It is only an illusion. My face skin is sensitive and waxing was very painful, and i had "red mustache" for a day or two. Shaving even made my skin smoother and cleaner in that area. I heard female facial shaving is usual and traditional in Japan and other Asian countries. Anybody knows more about that?

I have PCOS... and extra facial hair... how it grows back depends on it's current status... so upperlip hair for me is FINE (although dark)... chin and neck hairs happen to already be course and thicker... and WAY more ugly in my opinion.. I shave it all... the upper lip grows fine... the chin neck grows thicker...

I do it for the fine hair on my upper lip, just grows back as fine as it was...and its cheaper and less painful than getting it waxed.

I use a little battery face trimmer, and I think makeup looks so much better when the peach fuzz is gone from my face. I trim my whole face with it. Laughing I've tried hair removal creams for my face and they burn.

I've never shaved my face with a razor, I'm curious now because everyone is saying it makes your skin so smooth!

I've never tried shaving my face but I've tried waxing, tweezing and threading.

Of the 3, I prefer waxing. Regrowth is much much slower and finer. However, I've found out that hard wax works much better and it's a lot less painful nor does it cause redness. (Btw the same applies to brazilian waxes haha Razz)

Tweezing takes forever and threading, well it really depends on the skill of the person doing the threading. I've had really good experiences in which it didn't really hurt much (except for the areas near the ears-which is bound to hurt due to being near the hairline I guess?). However I've also had absolutely horrible experiences when it hurt like hell Mad

So for me, threading is really unpredictable whereas waxing using hard wax never fails so I stick to waxing Very Happy

Dont do it! My aunt shaved her upper lip, and then grew a mustache after. Not like a guys - but like longer hairs all over. That never went away, even with hair removers. NEVER take a razor to your face, unless your a guy. I dont know from personal experience, but my aunt had a bad experience so i would avoid it.

Here's the problem: facial hair has a tendency to get darker and coarser over time, due to changes in hormones. And this effect--like the darkness and distribution of facial hair generally--is more pronounced in some people than in others, of course. Keep in mind that those who choose to shave do so because they are already bothered by their facial hair. Not surprisingly, those with enough facial hair to be bothered enough to shave not infrequently find that, over time, their facial hair gets worse. But they have no way of knowing what would have happened had they not shaved at all! The only real test would be to shave half of your face for many years and leave the other half alone. That way you could see whether shaving really made a difference in later hair growth. But I would guess that no one is dedicated enough to science to perform such an "experiment" for years to find out. Laughing

As one of my professors long ago told me, "The plural of anecdote is not data." I tend to trust hypotheses based on known scientific principles over anecdotal evidence myself.

I have two friends that shave their whole face and I have often wondered how they get their skin so luminous. They finally told me their secret. I would like to ask if your face, after 40 years of shaving, looks better than those your age. Thank you! Marilyn (lmyrna)

A few years ago, a top derm in this country told me that one of the reasons men's faces look better than women's as they age is that they shave. The shaving is a form of daily dermabrasion, encouraging collagen production and speeding the skin renwal process. I thought he was joking until he launched into an in-depth explanation.

I've dry-shaved my face for the last year or so (or from the time this topic first appeared here) and find it to be cheaper, more comfortable and less irritating to my skin than either tweezing, waxing or threading. When I told my younger sister about it, she was adamant that she'd never shave. Well, she tried it once and is now a convert.

With age, I've developed long, fine hair that blankets the jaw and throat, along with a few wiry billy goat whiskers thrown in for entertainment purposes. If I depended on a salon to get rid of it for me, I'd be there all the time.

My skin feels like satin afterward, my make-up glides on and the hair never grows back thicker or darker. I'd like to be able to shave my upper lids but am a'scared of taking off my eyebrows in the process. Does anyone know of a little tiny effective razor or other device suitable for the eyelid area? Maybe a make-up artist or theatrical source?

Laughing Laughing Laughing Toooo funny Pinky. So, may I ask at what time of day you do this and whether you get the hairs growing back in a fuzzy way later in the day? I'm thinking of DH kissing me when he gets in and feeling little prickles. Otherwise, I'm tempted!
