They're having a $10 off $99 purchase, too, until end of Nov. |

I just wanted to reinforce Nimue--the new Devita is fantastic. I use the body version on my face, and the new tube is so much more user friendly. I love that they upped the % of zinc too. I tried Burnout this summer, and while it was good for the beach, I found that it did leave more of a white cast and wasn't as nice cosmetically. With Devita at 19% now, I have my HG! And DH loves it too, especially the tube. I haven't tried any of their other products, though.
FYI, I get mine from Lucky Vitamin; I've ordered from them nearly half a dozen times and haven't had any trouble. |

The only Devita product I've tried besides the sunscreen is the aloe vera gel cleanser and it is very good. It uses soapwort extract as the cleansing agent. It's a soapy type cleanser (not a cream cleanser) and it definitely cleans but it's not drying. |

After using this for the last week, I have to agree, it really is fantastic. It smells great, it feels like nothing on the skin whether over moisturizer or under makeup and best of all for me is that there is no irritation of any kind. I love it!
I might just order the body version for use on the face, though, after reading your post, KBLang, as well as this one from Petunia:

Caris,
I have the same issues as you (retin-A user) and right now I am using Devita Body Block Spf 30+. With the colder weather, I am finding that this particular sunscreen is moisturizing, doesn't have a white cast. It also has lots of antioxidants in it--pretty impressive actually. I do have the Devita Facial Solar Moisturizer but I have the older type in the jar (with no clear SPF on the label). I really like this facial product as well--the new product looks just as good but has a SPF 30+.
However, if you compare the ingredients of the Devita Body Block vs. Solar Moisturizer you will be far more impressed with the Body Block.

| Well, I splurged and ordered both the Devita Solar Protective Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 AND the Devita Solar Body Block 30 from Vitacost. I'll give both a try (once I get them) and see the difference. |

I have a terrible time getting a sunscreen for my forehead that doesn't run into my eyes. If I'm just walking around it is fine, but when I was sitting on the sidelines at my daughter's soccer games, I was never able to get one that didn't run.
How's the Devita in that regard? |

| Sorry, Time2Bme, I can't help with that one! I will say I walk my 2 dogs (well, actually they walk me!) and I haven't had any running of the sunscreen at this time. |

I ordered and received Devita SS from Vitacost. Also bought Badger which has 20% zinc oxide. Tried Devita. Love, love, love. So light textured and doesn't smell bad. It's not all thick and white. It is highly moisturizing.
Badger? Haven't tried it yet. |

Thanks Riley !!! I have a feeling I'm going to have to adjust my expectations for the soccer field. I ended up wearing a visor to just cover my forehead.
I haven't received my Devita yet - am looking forward to trying it. It would be SOOO nice if I could find one I really like before next summer. |

| I too am a BIG Devita sunscreen fan. I use the face (very moisturizing) and body SS. I love the new packaging too. I haven't gotten ANY hyperpigmentation from the sun since using the Devita sunscreens and I am very prone to it. I highly recommend and just wish it was available in my local health food store. |

Devita Solar Body Block contains retinol (vitamin A). I wonder if we should be avoiding this in view of recent concerns and controversy regarding the use of vitamin A derivatives in sunblocks:
http://www.futurederm.com/2010/06/01/is-the-vitamin-a-in-sunscreen-really-bad-for-you/
Has anybody raised this concern with Devita? I know that some sunscreen manufacturers acted immediately to stop formulating their sunscreen with vitamin A (eg Trukid).
It might be prudent to stick with the face version and not the body version until there is some resolution of these issues. |

| Reporting back on Badger which I bought at the same time as Devita, and it's a no go for me. I like devita facial ss very much, but won't repurchase badger. It's so thick and oily. My friend likes it though since her face is very dry. |

I don't know the answer, mlrox, but I can tell you Dr. Fernandes of Environ believes that retinyl palmitate has a photoprotection action. I think you can find several studies on this if you type "retinyl palmitate photoprotection" in google. |

I wouldn't worry about it. It's retinoids like retin A that do all the intense stuff, you would need to have a really high % of retinyl palmitate for it to do anything. So I think that most likely Devita has a very small % of retinyl palmitate and even if it was high to do anything, the high % of zinc oxide would make up for it and then some.
It's just like I'm not worried about the essential oil in Trukid sunscreen. Same deal.
(but don't wear any retinoids or acids under your sunscreen)

I've tried the Badger as well. Very, very moisturizing! My skin tends towards dry and it's even too rich and oily for me. Guess it goes on the arms and hands now... |

This is actually a tough one. *normally* whatever sunscreen I use on my face is fine around the eyes. However, Devita's the exception. The old formula definitely stung my eyes and I haven't tried the new formula. I think someone tried it and said it's ok around the eyes, and for someone else it's ok some days but not all the time.
I personally would go with a different physical sunscreen in the eye area. (such as burnout or trukid) |

I've used the Devita facial sunscreen under my eyes without trouble. My eyes tend to be sensitive to stuff - especially with scents. This one give me no trouble.
I think Riley's used it under her eyes as well - mentioned in another thread. |

| I also use it very close to my lash lines, and no problem for me. My eyes are prety sensitive, and they redden easily, but not with this devita SS. |

I do, and I use it on my lids as well after reading that Nimue used sunscreen there too! I have had no problems with the Devita bothering my eyes and I have sensitive eyes, as well, always getting puffy and/or red and irritated, but this has not happened with the Devita sunscreen. I am still loving this stuff and will continue to use it! My search for a HG sunscreen for my skin is over. |

I still have not received my order from Vitacost. I sent an email to them earlier this week, but haven't heard back yet. I'll leave it for a few days, seeing as it was Thanksgiving in the U.S.
I sometimes have to wait a couple of week, but this seems a bit longer than it should. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't lost. |

Hi Time2Bme - I placed a Vitacost order on Nov 12 and received it on Nov 15. I used their regular shipping and I'm in the US. Not sure where you are, but this was pretty quick for me. Hopefully they'll get back to you soon. |

Unfortunately it seems to take about 4-6 weeks to arrive in Canada from Vitacost or at least that has been my experience. |
